Title: Can't get 'Distance to Empty'
Post by: wkristen on May 20, 2013, 13:12:36
So I've had my car for around 3 weeks or just around a month. It's 2 yrs old-ish. I've followed what the manual says (press "Trip" for less than a second to change ....) and all it does is reset the trip count to zero. No matter how long or short I press the button for, it only resets and doesn't cycle through the options that lead to 'Distance to Empty'. Any ideas?

What happens if you just blip it once, without holding it down?

From memory just press and let go.

Don't hold it otherwise it resets as you found out.

That would go some way to explaining why it's in hiding

So there's no way of knowing the distance to empty? A 13 yr old Commodore has one. It'd be pretty pathetic if the i30 didn't.

I give you the tip,if your low fuel light comes on,get some fuel before you do much more than 50 K's,like Rusty said the FD SX doesn't have the trip computer.

I got a 24 year old Commodore and it hasn't got one either

Well that's a bit gay.  :undecided: That's one thing I didn't check out before buying the car. But it's something I'll have to get used to

Not many base model cars have DTE readouts (a low fuel warning light usually does the trick)

I've had something like 28 cars in 37 years and only 3 or 4 have had a trip computer.

Unfortunately the bell & whistles appear on newer models all the time. Don't feel too bad, our cars don't have,

Bluetooth
GPS
Reversing Camera
DRL's
DPF's
etc,

but we get by.  :goodjob2:
