Title: I30 Tourer Engine Bay
Post by: AlanHo on May 25, 2013, 17:31:05
I have had my new car for a week now and lifted the bonnet (hood) for the first time today. This was to change the windscreen washer fluid which smelled awful.

However - I digress - for some reason I didn't recognise the location of the battery and other components and got the impression that Hyundai have made some changes since last year when I bought my 2012 diesel hatch. I can't find a photo of the engine bay of the 2012 model to make a comparison - can someone on the forum convince me that my imagination is working overtime?

Here is a picky of the engine layout in my 2013 tourer.

Looked at my petrol model and my battery is in the same place as your battery.

The only difference seems to be the radiator expansion tank.  Mine is right behind the rad, between the rad and engine, and not over on the left side.

Looks identical to my Feb 13 Korean built GD CRDi hatch, excepting it ain't got the sticker that says "NO DP Filter".

Thanks rusty - it just goes to prove I am losing the plot.  Both engine bays - other than mine being a better colour  - are the same.

So given there is no change in the position of the battery I wonder whether the engine on the diesel comes closer to the rad so the expansion tank has to be relocated on the left side?

Alan can you check the space between the rad and engine and post the size of the gap. I'll then compare to the gap in the petrol engine bay.

Just comparing the picture to mine it appears that the gap is smaller in your car.

Diesel engine must be slightly wider
