Title: Continental silver problem?
Post by: sparki30 on February 01, 2009, 10:35:14
I was cleaning the boot out yesterday and realised that the top inside edge of the hatch door, the hinges and top edge of the hatch opening were not painted in silver. It is a light grey (primer?) the silver stops at the top edge of the hatch. Is this normal ?

It probably is the silver but it has not been topcoated, my vivid blue inside the bootlid is not as shiny as the rest of the car either, the top of the interior hatch and the engine bay appears to be the same so I think it is just the laquer layer missing

Same here.

The laquer is just inside the doors/boot/hatch.

Cheap skates.

Looks like we all have, maybe we should bring it up at our next anti-corrosion check?

Wonder if it's a UK thing? Just cleared the snow off the boot and mine's the same

It was exactly the same with my previous Hy Accent.

Laquer stopped just inside the doors/boot/hatch.

Yeah my Accent was like that too, however the i30 is better than the Accent was, at least inside the doors is laquered (mostly!)

Most cars with metallic paint are like this - I've seen it quite a bit.  Last one I can think of was a Subaru Forrester (2008 model)
