Hi all,
Just wanted to share my experience with my first service since owning my i30 auto CRDi in March this year. I finally managed to get my i30 serviced at the local Hyundai dealership in Brisbane yesterday. All up, the service cost around $308. I supplied the oil (Penrite Diesel HPR-5 Full synthetic), and the fuel/oil/air filters (genuine Hyundai ones). I wanted to get it done there so they could activate HALO for me too.
They changed the brake switch and one of the battery terminals under warranty. I've never owned a car within warranty period so this was a nice change.
I've had some issues with the car though. Intermittently, I have experienced the car shaking/choking around 1500-1800rpm range at various speeds. Not sure if this was normal, but there seems to be a slight delay after you press the accelerator (also happens subjectively intermittently). I mentioned this to the dealer but as expected, they gave the usual response "couldn't replicate issue". Also, they said they didn't have time to activate HALO for me as they ran out of time (it was a Saturday and they open between 8am-12pm. I dropped the car off at around 8:20am so I thought it would have been more than enough time to get that done.
In the invoice, it said they resetted the ECU so that hopefully fixed the problem of the shaking. Unfortunately it still seems to happen so I think I'll have to follow this one up in the next week or two. I also have to take it in again to activate HALO, which is a little inconvenient.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues with the shaking/delayed acceleration? I had a quick search on the forum and some people say it's the EGR, while others reckon it's the injectors?

The earlier 5 speed manual diesels would do that under about 1500 RPM but the later 6 sped updated model doesn't. Without seeing it for myself not sure what the problem is. Some FD series Auto owners might be able to help.
I'm cranky about the Halo reset.. that is just downright poor service as by all accounts only should take them a minute or two! :disapp:

The money sounds right for Hy,given you supplied all the consumables,I'm with Dazz,not activating the HALO is just extremely poor customer service,I for one would be contacting Hy Head office,so does this mean they also DID NOT DO the GDS as this is supposed to be done on all major services,if they in fact did do the GDS they already had the computer hooked up it would have taken them few strokes of the computer keys to activate it maybe thirty seconds.
but yes it's great to have them fix things for nothing under warranty

My 2010 diesel auto gets a little cranky under 1500rpm. I think its just not happy there.
The wife's 2011 auto, is much happier around the 1500 mark.
I would be totally spewing about the Halo, since you paid more than double what I paid my mechanic for the same service, you would expect them to do what you asked.....I suspect the forgot and couldn't be bothered.

Not sure if you have auto or manual. If manual and at low revs, there will be a delay in acceleration. Suggest drop down a gear and see if that improves things. We have autos, so they change gears as required. If the revs are not kept at the optimum level, (2-2.5k rpm) the turbo will not be in operation and acceleration will suffer.

well I just thought I would point it out :rofl: I often have senility lapses from time to time as well,PPL are quick to jump on my mistakes,I don't often get the chance to point out others mistakes :whistler:
