Hi Guys, is it normal to have oil like this on top of the engine right next to the injectors? Am I overreacting? Could it be just some spilled oil from my last service? I also notice the top part of one of the injector turned brown. Not sure if that's any problems at all.

It's clean oil, so it's unlikely to be a leak from inside the motor, as the oil inside turns black very quickly. But one would need to be very clumsy or careless to spill that much when adding oil.
The brown stuff on top of the injector could be just dirt/dust? See if it will clean off.
I will be interested to see what others think.

:whsaid:
At first sight that oil looks like it's been put there deliberately - possibly to do a leak test on the injector mounting?
Mix some washing up detergent with water and use a toothbrush to clear it - use another toothbrush to try a gentle scrub on the brown stuff.

Clean your teeth fisrt tho, then clean your toothbrush well before using it again

Or if you are cranky with the Missus use hers (but don't get caught) :snigger:

Wipe it off and see if it comes back.
If it returns then it must be from within.

Agree, the oil is too clean to come from inside the engine.
Just clean it of and no worries..

Thanks for the tips guys, i used tissue to soak up the oil for now. Will continue to monitor and see if it comes back. The brown stuff on the injectors can be wiped off, but i highly doubt it's dust. I might check with the dealer when i have time.

Maybe the mods could merge the threads, that would look really interesting.

couldn't help myself :whistler: but as all have said the oild looks to clean to be from an internal leak, like rickai said mop it up and keep and eye on it,see how I got back to topic before getting to seriously in the Poo

The thing about this is... if the oil were dark we could narrow it down to the cam gasket or the injector seal(s).
But it ain't dark.

Hi,
As all members who wrote comments. I think also the oil you saw it's too clean to be the actually oil of your engine or you drive very clean :)
And as all members too, clean with detergent as a wash liquid for dishes lightly dilued with water(?) and to sponge after.
Look sometimes and inspect if you have it again.
Have a good luck

Haha.. think you mis-interpreted it. My bad, too early in the morning to post. I was merely referring to the fact that he suggested of using the missus's toothbrush and wondered how did it went down that road.. (missus used oily toothbrush, oil contaminated her mouth, you get the idea). Sorry for the lame joke :-[
Anyways, so after a week or 2, I checked again today and it looks very clean, no leaks whatsoever. Like someone said before, it could be just an injector test. Haven't got to the dealer yet, if I get the chance, I'll ask them for the reason.

:goodjob: Looks like it was just a spill when car was serviced :happydance:

reason is the the apprentice knocked out the oil filler and spilt it eveywhere, they should have degreased it for you.
