Hi folks,
I purchased an i30 hatch in 2011 and have noticed that the front seats are suffering from a number of white stain marks. :disapp: The marks look like 'salt stains'. Now its hot in Western Australia during the summer and we can perspire a little even with the good air conditioning fitted. Ive noticed many other i30's have the same marks. Em !
Question - has anyone else struck this and how to get the marks out ?
many thanks for all good ideas ! ;)

No, never encountered that before. Exactly where on the seat is the mark located. Try a reputable upholstery cleaner (test first, of course,) and see if that works.

Hi Phil,
many thanks for the quick response. I think it is 'body salt' to be honest ! Ive seen a number of other i30's here exactly the same, unfortunately. I was going to fit seat covers when I first got the card ( new) but never got round to it.
Wish I had now. The marks are over 75 % of the base (drivers seat mainly) with little to none on the back which doesn't really make that much sense to me ? I was hoping someone maybe in WA was going to say 'yes me too me' and tell me what they did, but its early days yet I guess. I will approach a car de-tailer and also have a look at some good cleaners I guess. I'm always a bit careful these days of chemicals as they can melt down certain materials !!! Many thanks again Phil for your reply.

Hi Mal,
You could try some watered down white vinegar as per this link...

and another suggesting vinegar...

I get white marks too but usually on the door trims etc.
I just use ordinary interior detailer (Maguires).
:welcome: by the way.

Hi Mal
:wttc:
Have you tried with just a clean cloth and some hot water...
Not a fan of too much chemistry for the upholstery.

Hi folks ;)
I'm really over whelmed by the responses to my problem. Thank you one and all for all the great suggestions.
Its really good to get them. To be honest I hadn't tried anything as yet but the obvious start will be warm water and a sponge. If that doesn't work I will have ago with a good upholstery cleaner or maybe the vinegar. That sounds like a great idea :agoodidea: and I have some already. I wonder about the smell of that though :-[
So many thanks folks. I will let you know how I go. The i30 has been a 'good buy' so far and not too bad on the fuel. I get around 520 klms for a tank of petrol with mixed town and freeway driving. I wonder how that pans out across the board ?
Many thanks again - Mal
