I can't stress enough NOT TO GET FUNDING THROUGH A CAR DEALER. The dealers themselves get a cut of the repayments, loan interest rate is almost always higher, and fees are unbelievable. I would recommend personal loan funding through your own bank/financial institution. That way all loans and stuff are linked to you, on one account.

When looking for finance, not just for cars, it not the interest rate quoted or the monthly repayment $£ which you should look at, you should look at the TOTAL $£ you will pay, including the deposit.
Sometimes a low % but long repayment period will make the final cost of the car high.
I've sometime found that car dealers will give a good deal on finance and will give a higher than expected discount or PX to get the sale.
Always shop around but during this period of credit famine just be careful that the deal offered is affordable otherwise you may end up handing the keys back to the finance company.
To be safe and able to sleep at night, work out your budget and stick to it!!!!

Not always true. I was going to pay cash for Fergie but took a 0% finance offer (over 2 years) as it wouldn't cost me anything. That was Hyundai's own offer btw

Good call shambles.
In my view 24 monthly payments at 0% is better than 1 full payment and as you had the capital, even at the measily interest rate we are now getting on savings, you should be better off over the 24 months.
Unfortunately for me, the offer was not on the Comfort when I bought mine. Only had it for the Premium.
So to try and compensate the dealer offered me a (good) increase on the PX.

I believe its a requirement these days to have a TAP (total amount payable) on the finance contract, regardless of any lines the salesman/finance company attempt to spin, this is the bottom line that you should be interested in.
Some finance companys will charge you extra to get out of the loan if you do it too early (or at all) and some charge you more to put extra money in, this should all be in your contract though.
In regards to how much have you got left to pay, you should be able to ring the finance company and ask for a payout figure and outstanding amounts, I've been able to do this with any previous loan I've had , be it store finance on household items or finance for a car or house loan.
