With the radio off (showing clock + outside temperature) press and hold buttons "1" and "6"
My software is showing as
A-200FDE
Version 1.02.EUR
Firmware FD200E52
Reason for asking is, if there is significant variation (within our own countries and between continents) I might ask Hyundai Motor Co UK if there is an upgrade available, as I would like ID3 tags to scroll on the display rather than the filename.
Update 20/10/2011
The following method seems to work on MY11 model audios:
To get to "hidden" settings on the radio press and hold 1 and 4 for a few seconds, then press 1 a few times in succession. It will first go to the firmware version screen, but if you press 1 again it will go to a "firmware upgrade from USB" screen. Now this is not very useful by itself, but when I was watching the guy do this he seemed to get to another "hidden settings" screen that he then navigated with the knobs or something. It looked like there were all sorts of interesting settings in there.

Thanks for checking it out. I wonder what difference your version has, my young apprentice piglet.
Maybe it's to do with the frequencies of the FM/AM radio bands.
I'm tempted to ask our Korean cousins whether any of their software versions show ID3 tags when playing from CD or USB.
Maybe seoul-mate could ask them this, seeing as he's recently learned Korean ;)

Yeah I think so, about those radio bands. I wonder that we could modify the firmwire ... Would be cool if you start up your car and it says 'Hello Piglet' :D
Or putting it in dutch or so ...

Like.. "hallo biggen"

Like.. "hallo biggen"
Going off topic here:
Piglet means 'biggen' in dutch and you know what? I never heard of the word biggen before! Then I searched it up in my dictionary and it means 'young pig'.
Actually it must be 'big' instead of 'biggen' wich mean more than 1 big's. Done for the dutch lessons :D
Back on-topic:
I don't think it would be possible to change anything on the radio unit. I could remove the radio and open it to see what's inside though :)

I'd be surprised if a CD-based firmware upgrade couldn't be performed. Maybe not.

I intend to write to HMCUK next week regarding planned/existing/potential upgrades to the radio/USB/CD display logic - whether available or even possible.

I've just written to the nice lady at hyundai-car.co.uk with my ID3 query.
Last time I wrote to her, she explained what to do if SDVC didn't seem to work, so she's quite tekky (or knows who to ask in the tekky department).
Oh, and thanks to the 1.02% of forum members that bothered to respond with their software versions    If I find there is a push button way of switching this on I'll PM each of you with the solution 8)

Not sure, probably bug fixes for issues with usb sticks and ipods etc, feature/version upgrades as required.
Ive noticed on the ipod via the headunit that i cant get past a particular directory from the ipod, going to have to count the directories in and try and remove a few and try and find the offending directory (maybe its a character the headunit software doesnt like) then report it to Hyundai in an attempt to get it fixed. Funilly enough all the wifes folders which are up first seems to work but i cant get to mine

It's not OT but thanks for asking.
I saw the button-pushing combination posted on hyundai-forums.com as a reply to a post, which was not acknowledged, so I asked that question here :)
No I don't know whether there are any other unpublished "tricks", but it would be nice to know what can be done with the audio system.

Hmmm interesting... When I drove home after writing that post I had a play with it and I get info like album title and artist - but normally I leave it on the filename and just live with the .mp3 (or frequently in my case, .WMA)
If it shows the info when playing off a disc I don't see why it shouldn't show it when playing of USB. Unfortunately I can't help much with what the reason is, but it's an interesting point.
All my cars have female names - I've had so many now I'm running out of names! Crystal is named after her colour - Crystal white.

I finally remembered to check my SR version radio firmware and took a piccy of it.

that's interesting BEZ, your radio looks like it has Korean software in it "KOR" but most of the other Australian ones have "AUS".
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for what software is in what car...
P.S. you need to borrow my special microfibre dusting cloth and soft paintbrush to get all the dust out of your screens. :P

I'll respond when mine is delivered in two weeks time. 04/09 build...

Yeah, the only thing I can think for the difference is mine is an early 08 model (manufactured end of 07 IIRC) so maybe it got shipped out before they made an AU version. It works well, there's no Korean characters.
I wonder if there is much of a difference between the revision 06 and revision 08 of the firmware.
As for the dust, the car is in a dire need of a clean.

That's weird actually, Crystal was born on 29/09/2008 so she's a fair bit older than yours, so I have no idea why she would have newer (I assume since it has a higher number) software installed.
I too would love to know what it all means! Hyundai (at least in Australia) don't really deal much with the stereo hardware, let alone the software...
-
I wonder if the version resets with the different EEPROMs?
Who's the manufacturer of the stereo?

For the i30 it's made by Hyundai electronics in Korea - I don't know about the version... In all the i30s I have driven I haven't really noticed any functional difference between the stereos in them - except, obviously, for us big shots with 6 stackers...

Mine is an August 08 build that I purchased in April 09. When I brought it I asked them to ensure the software was up-to-date. From the looks of the software version others with later cars have, it looks like they may well have updated it.
Just realised it is the same as MRHI30's with a similar build date. Different EEPROM version from the later cars so perhaps the EEPROM & S/W versions are linked (eg if they flashed my EEPROM to FD30EG4J my S/W would go back to v1.00.AUS).

Hi Everyone,
Am in NZ and just recently got a used Black 1.6 cRDi manual Elite i30. Build date Feb 2008. Assumed I would see AUS in the radio software version but mine is V1.06.KOR! Radio works just fine though.
Assumed the NZ versions are the same as the Australian versions but maybe they aren't?
Has ESP, 17 inch wheels, leather, auto mirror, wipers, lights and all airbags. No cruise control but don't have straight long roads in NZ so don't miss it.

Not sure what mine is but it corresponds to expectation based on age.
What I did want to register here is that I'm going to ask if there is a later version at my service this week because the CD has a few oddities. I've hardly put a CD in over the year I've had it but now find it is less than perfect.
It does not seem to recognise breaks/gaps correctly. For instance, continous tracks have a one second gap inserted, and a track that has a 10 second (or thereabouts) gap truncates that to one second.

I just got referred to this thread after having posted a question re how my usb port seems to function. I don't know my version as I never knew how to check it until reading this thread, so I will check it in the next day or so and post.
Out of curiosity do any of your decks behave like mine do as these are the two issues that are frustrating me:
a) if I'm playing tracks through the usb (ipod shuffle in my case, 1st gen) and stop the car, when I restart, the usb always starts from the beginning rather than where I left off
b) if I have been listening to the radio and stop the car, when I restart, the deck always defaults to the usb and starts playing the ipod shuffle (after a second or two of the radio)
I would love it if these two things can be fixed.
Finally, has any Aussie had any luck getting a dealer to update their software version? Is this something they can do?
-
i asked about softwear updates once and was told any updates would be done during a service, when available.

I've noticed a little quirk when connecting my iPhone to the system, it all works as an ipod and it is fine, however, if I am using the "RDM" randomiser of the car to shuffle my library of songs and I stop the car, turn it off and get out, then get back in and start up the car and drive off, it will resume the song and position in minutes and seconds that was playing before, but it *stops* randomising the library. It also makes no difference whether the phone is disconnected and then reconnected in between ignition starts/stops... I asked about whether there was an audio system firmware upgrade available when I took the car in for its first 1000k service last week, but was told that there were no firmwares available and if they were, they'd only be for the engine/transmission computer and not for the audio system... :'( oh well.

Hello FixedR6, interesting that your firmware seems slightly newer than mine. I wonder if they'll upgrade mine at the next service....
cheers.
-
I have the 1.00AUS version and just got my car serviced in Brisbane, Australia. I was hoping there was something they could do to upgrade the software as my USB functionality does not seem as intuitive as others have described theirs, e.g. after leaving the car and returning mine always defaults to what is plugged into the USB socket and also to the beginning of the USB playlist. This happens even if the last thing I was listening to was the radio or the CD. And of course if I was listening to the mp3 in the USB socket I lose my place in the playlist and go to track one. Frustrating.
Anyway, the dealer was unable to do anything. They said they don't have access to the software for the radio, it's all internal to the deck itself, gets done at whatever factory makes the radio deck, and therefore they can't upgrade it. Very disappointing.
-
Zef,
Have you tried a variety of other USB sticks? The behaviour of you Radio doesn't sound normal (I have a Feb08 Build car and mine works fine)
Always resumes with the previous function/song that was playing...

Zef,
I have tried 4 different USB sticks in my new car and one of them (the hyundai one) does what you say, starts from the beginning everytime.

Hi, I must be doing something wrong...I have tried with radio off (time and temp displayed) and with radio on, holding down 1 and 6. But I don't get the firmware.. My car is an my11 (June 2011) CW diesel bar model with cruise/fog fitted.
I just had my head unit replaced today due to bluetooth issues.. Still can't get firmware details to show.

^-- the method did seem to change with the recent MY update. It's somewhere on this site but I can't remember where just now.
I'll update the OP if someone can find the updated instructions...

Mine's the same, for a 2009 model.
Has anyone heard of a way to update, or if there's any benefit?
-
What benefit would you be expecting to gain. That year vehicle was simply a radio / CD player. If it's working, leave it alone. You can't have Bluetooth, as the internal circuitry will not be installed.

It would nice if there were more options like displaying the track time remaining, track title wilthout mp3 extension, scrolling display...
I don't know if later models/revisions have any of that.
