We have just bought an i30 Auto Hatch Elite in Phantom Black :D with one optional Hyundai Safety Accessory, the Front Park Assist Module & Front Park Assist Sensors (4 Head) as shown on the Hyundai Australia website.
The car should be ready for delivery in a few days. Today we received a phone call from the Dealer advising us that the Hyundai Front Park Assist System cannot be delivered and offered an After Market equivalent. We reluctantly accepted the replacement. Apparently this add-on will require one extra switch to be fitted one the dashboard. I wonder whether any of the Forum members had this option fitted and what their comments / observations are.

Personally i would not bother with the front ones.

In the UK the official Hyundai option kit with 4 front sensors (provided by Cobra) requires a switch in the dashboard so you can turn them off when required.

personally I don't rely on any off them  hasn't anyone heard of touch parking :whistler:

Do you mean on?

I did mean off - they are a bloody nuisance when you are driving down a narrow country lane with grass sprouting up the middle or from the sides. They sound constantly due the proximity of the greenery.
My GD i30 has front corner sensors as standard and they have thoughtfully given us a push button above your right knee to turn them off in such circumstances.

Thanks to all for your feedback, much appreciated. I just don't like the idea of having a third party switch installed on a brand new dashboard and had assumed there would be one spare/unused switch position that could be used. Cheers

Update: These FPA sensors have now been in use for more than 5 weeks since delivery. Unfortunately they proved to be far too sensitive and unpredictable in their behaviour. Whilst driving the vehicle there has been not a single day without false alarms. Meaning these front sensors give audible alarms and erroneous displays without any apparent reason; sometimes the display locks up and has to be reset turning power off and back on again. I suspect some electro-magnetic interference problem. To be fair, this AutoXtreme brand FPA system works when approaching an obstacle - however, owing to its extreme sensitivity it can be hard to judge how close you really are. The Dealer's service people told us that the system should be switched off during normal driving. That, IMO, defies the purpose of having such a system installed, because one might forget to turn it on when needed and thus suffer damage. Potential buyers beware.
