Title: I30 2008 front end grinding noises
Post by: raf-1200 on December 06, 2013, 11:30:37
Hi. Hoping someone can answer an issue that just started happening tonight. I noticed a small squeal while driving. Barely noticeable. Then just around the corner from home it seriously started grinding.

Drove it the last couple of hundred metres home and put the front end up. Spinning the 'problem' wheel I felt it grinding. I then put the other side up to feel the difference. It was very similar. Went back to the original wheel and it doesn't seem to wobble left to right. Instead the noise seems to be coming from the engine side of the shaft. Anyone had this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

As much as I was hoping it was wheel bearings I did further tests and it isn't.

Car idles fine with clutch in and in neutral but when the clutch is released even in neutral it sounds like something is loose and there's a slight knocking.
