Title: Poor fuel economy from my auto SLX

Well I've now got 1500k up on the clock and my fuel economy is still lousy. I'm averaging 9.2 to 9.5 litre per 100k. That's all city driving in moderate traffic, taking it easy most of the time.  I was expecting much better than this - my other car is a 2.8 litre turbo diesel 4WD and it gets 9.5 litre per 100k.

I've got it booked it with the service guys next week to have it checked out.

I had a bit of a look on the forum and most economy figures are for manuals and not an auto.

Anyone with an auto got any comments?

And yes I've got the hand brake released. Maybe it's them sheepskin covers causing the poor fuel economy, all that extra weight.

Hi Stu,

Something is not right .. we had a guy from Ulverstone in Tassie (thought he called himself "Tassie Dave" but cant find him in the members list now -must have been on Hyundai forums)

Anyway, he had a diesel auto and was getting between 6 and 7 LPH..

I'm sure there have been others getting better than 7's too.. :exclaim:

I am only up to 1,300Km & am already averaging 7.1L\100Km.
It's working out to 800Km a tank.
I am hoping this will improve over time :)

Give it time. After a few thousand kms, the economy should improve. It did on my petrol 2.0L, and am extremely happy!!

mine has done 2500km i am getting about 7.4 l\100km

Thanks Guys, at least now I have got some idea of what economy I should be getting. Goes in next Tuesday to the service people so we will see what they find if anything.

Hi Stu,

I have about 6,000 km's up now am getting anywhere between 6.5 to 6.7.

Has been as low as 6.1 on a long trip up the coast.

I remember when I first got mine it was up at around 9 & then when around 1,500 km's came up it seemed to drop rather quickly.

Auto diesel consumption is not great.

My best is 5.52 (for over 900 km on a tank) and my worst is 7.9 (lots of stop-start) but my average over 15,000 is 6.51

i am due for my first major service and I will be interested to see if there is any improvement after that.
