Title: New job
Post by: tzwientjuh on March 20, 2009, 18:56:29
Hi guys,

I've got a new job :)

I'll be an technician for installing internet, TV, digital TV and phones in other people's houses.
My training starts next week. And I'll get my own company car to use for the work. It's an Renault Trafic.

I'm a bit scared for driving the van as I never have driven a larger car than a Volvo V70  Anyone got some tips? hehe

But it's a great job! They also give me a cellphone, laptop, gps and tools  :D

The point is that from now on, I won't be as much on the forum as usual. But I'll try  And now I can do some more mods cuz now I will have money!

Big cheers,
Nick

Great News Nick

Modern vans are fairly driver friendly... If it has a long wheelbase just remember not to take the corners too sharply..

I use to install appliances for Radio Rentals when I was first with them...mainly drove a Toyota hi-ace van but sometimes a small truck.

Congrats! I had almost the same job few years ago, connecting ADSL routers and TV-over DSL at peoples homes, I had a Suzuki Baleno Wagon  I actually liked that car :)

It was strange first, going in a strangers house all the time, but I got used to it.

You think Renault Traffic is big  You should see the cars I drive at work

Cheers

Thanks to everyone :)

I'll get the car Monday. I hope it's easy to drive, just don't take sharp turns like Dazz said. It will sure be an experience cuz you sit higher and the steeringwheel is flatter. Also the gearbox is situated diffrent.

Fun to see other people also did this kind of job :) Like Hemmi said: You'll get used to it for going in strangers houses.

Hi Nick Congratulations & good luck.
Don't worry about the van it will take you less than one week and it will be easy from then on.
if you are mostly going to people's homes should be simple to park, unless you are working in a high dencity area of a busy city were parking spots are hard to find ( like Sydney ) then you will have to learn to reverse useing your rear view mirrors but, thats eay on those vans they use very large mirrors. also you sit high and can see over cars and see how traffic movement is ahead. like dazz said turn wide, other wise you will hit something left side just before the rear wheel, unless you are driveing a left hand drive? then it's right side just before rear wheel.
good luck again just take it easy then it will come to you.
cheers
