Title: Help needed :) - measurements
Post by: accim on March 25, 2009, 08:21:12
Hello,

I would need some help. Few days ago I bought myself some alloy whells (16") and I would like to have "wheel cap" with Hyundai sign.. I don't know if that is the right name of the thing I'm looking for..so..I'll show you what I'm talking about on the picture below.. (I borrowed the picture from CCsPack, I hope he doesn't mind.. I love the white color of your car btw  )

I would need the diameter of this wheel cap, so I could check if the "hole" in my alloys is the right size, or will I have to buy Hyundai sticker

THANKS  :-[

Hi Accim, I doubt standard badges (if you can get them.. will fit after market alloys)

I have a friend with a laser machine here in Tasmania who makes me badges to suit my new mags when I swap cars (as a favour)

It is not that hard you find a picture of the logo and convert it to a line drawing (most people with laser cutting machines could do that)

Then they brush special paint on to some silver alloy (or similar) with adhesive backing..

The laser machines are controlled by a computer (they basically print/cut the image like a printer prints on paper)

See the wheels of wifes current Tiida and my previous Elantra below (as examples)

P.S. I sprayed the Hyundai one with some lacquer.. Probably some copyright issues so my M8 wouldn't do it commercially

No I don't know him and don'w know what he has/does..? I should try though..

dazzling_darryl: thank you for your reply.. The thing is, that I was hoping the Hyundais cap would fit, because I've mounted alloys from Kia Ceed. And I know that ALOT of parts are basically the same.. The dimensions of rims are also the same (5x114,3; diameter 67,1; 6Jx16..).. Hm

Sorry M8 I didn't realize.. Just because I'm a good bloke.. I just went outside in the cold and dark with a torch and measured as best I could ..

Looks like badge has diameter of 60mm or just slightly less (may be 59mm)

Thank you very much! If you lived closer, I would buy you a beer/coffee/something..  It helped me a lot! I've also measured the diameter of my rims (hole) and it's around 59-60 mm.. It could be a match..  :) I'll try to find Hyundai i30 alloy-cap and test it. Thanks m8 again!!

MyChemR - if the hyundai cap doesn't work, I'll try contacting axle.

Thank you both for your help
