Title: My 1.6 Manual Petrol Economy
Post by: AlanHo on March 31, 2014, 13:38:21
My petrol KIA Venga has now got through three tanks of fuel and I am relieved to find it is more economical than I anticipated.
At a weight of 1710 Kgs it is about the same as an FD petrol i30 – but it is a taller car with more wind resistance.

I have found via my usual tests that the odometer is reading 2.2% under and the trip economy display is reading about 4 mpg under.

The first tank was roughly 50:50 between urban and motorway.
The second tank included a long return journey to Devon and was 90% motorway
The third tank was mainly urban.

So 40 mpg (7.1 l/100) for motorway driving
And
34 mpg (8.3 l/100) for urban driving

Is not too bad for a tall 1.6 manual petrol car – or is it?

Yeppers Alan, that pretty much chimes with my fuel usage, although I defo don't have you patience nor analytical bent, my usage is just from using the onboard computer and leaving it without a reset for months on end.

if I do a reset just before joining the motorway for a work day I get all sorts of stupid unrealistic figures like fifity miles to the gallon (yeah right, I wish)......   So, yeah I avaerage forty on a run when I am very light footed on the loud pedal.   :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:
