Title: TJ's White i30 SR
Post by: tji30 on April 02, 2009, 07:03:01
Here are a few photos from when I collected the car on Monday. Still sitting in the dealer's driveway before I even got in it.

Thanks guys. I'll get more pics on the weekend.

Pity the reg plate isn't tji30

Had those plates for a few years now. Previously had them on my Porsche 924 that I sold a while back. I could have gotten something like POR24 at the time but I figured that'd be too car specific & wouldn't make sense on another car. I finally settled on TJS65 (as in TJ's & my year of birth). Pretty lame eh! Shortly after I got them I figured out I should have gotten "JON35" (1 guess as to my last name).

In case anyone was wondering, the front & rear skirts were $1300 painted & fitted. Probably a little expensive & I could have done without them, but I like 'em.

But at least it is the "1 guess"  :D

Nice i30 mate
:D

The side strips look great.
They really set it off.

And they'll protect it too.
They do work surprisingly, when I had my i30 it was parked in a nice cosy end spot away from everyone else. But a few business people pulled up next to us and flung the doors open. One of them just touched the protector. It didn't mark luckily but if it hadn't have been there it probably would have.

G'day Dazz!

I'm going well thanks.
Busy as usual with work, but getting an extra long weekend this week so I'm happy...hehe

How is everything going?
The Golf is going really well, got some new rims on it Audi RS4's 17". They've set it off nicely.

Had a small trip today to a movie cinema about an hour or so away to see Nicholas Cage's new movie 'Knowing'.
It was a great drive. Nothing like going for a bit of a drive on the weekend. I drive in a lot of stop start traffic during the week so its good to give the car a run on the weekends.
 :D

More pics at last...

Love the illumination here.

Notice the sticker finally in place. The dealer's sticker took 2 full hours of scraping & soaking in hot water to get it off & it came off in tiny peaces. I can only hope the i30ownersclub sticker stays on half as well. On a side note, the ex checked out the sticker when I picked up the kids this arvo, rolled her eyes, shook her head & said "whatever"...

As I've said previously the front & rear skirts aren't as "aggressive" as the MS kit, but I think it sets off the side skirts of the SR nicely.

Figured as much but I don't have one (I trim my hair down to a #1 every weekend so you can imagine why) & neither of my daughters (14 & 11) use one so I was SOL there.

As far as I know you can get an SR in any of the available colours. Certainly the case here in Aus.

He would have been telling you what was available at the time I reckon.. or what they were trying to get rid of...(Full colour range available in SR) although some overseas countries get a wider range of colours than Australia including Champagne Silver and a different darker red...

Seems you've been wrong twice and the current missus only once.  She's ahead by my count.

I'm hoping her track record will be subject to your discretion!

Yep. Standard kit now available in Aus & available in the dealers accessories price book. If they say it's not available they probably haven't read/updated their book for some time (thats what initially happened to me).

As I understand it the kit was released initially but withdrawn due to quality issues. I believe it was re-released around the beginning of this year.

What body kit is on this thing? Is there anyone else here with a standard body kit on the SR? I'd like to see some photos of a non-white one, preferably a silver or steel grey one

Just looked at the i30 Accessories Brochure. The body kit is on the front cover. I nearly vomited :)

TJ's SR (first page photos) has the standard AU kit

The silver one has the MS skirt (but it's an image from the Hyundai UK site, go figure)

The brochure page is completely different to TJ's. Hence my confusion :) The Hyundai website is as useful as tits on a bull when looking for photos :)

Took some more pics to show a couple of minor changes to the car...

The boss was getting all of the company cars signed just after I got mine & they are all white as well. He said jokingly in a metting for me not to leave my car sitting around too long or they'd do it as well. Some time after the meeting he approached me & offered to pay me if he could have my car signed as well. I checked with the signwriter & confirmed the stickers come off with the application of hot air & there is no damage to the paintwork. The boss has paid to have the car signed & will pay to have the signs removed. He ended up paying me $2000 in advance for 2 years worth!   8) :)

I don't think it's spoiled the look of the car at all.

and your signage has worked already (I've checked out the website)

Just posted in cmonkey's thread as well...

Just noticed you have the SR badge on both front doors. Interestingly I only have it on the passenger door. Since mine is a 2008 model I'm wondering if that is one of the changes they made from the 2008 to 2009 model. Anyone else with a 2008 (MRHI30?) able to confirm the SR badge is only on the front passenger door?

edit...

Just checked out some pics of some other 2008 SRs (DaveI30 in particular) & noticed they also have the SR badge on both front doors. Guess I'll have to have a word to the dealer 'bout that.

Was like that when I picked it up. The first pics in this thread were taken at the dealers on the day I picked it up before I even got in it. You can clearly see the SR badge was not on the drivers door at that time. Don't know how I've not picked that up 'til now.

I'm guessing that someone liked the look of it and pealed one off without the dealer noticing...

They are a nicer badge than the cheapie SLX ones I pealed off...
