I finally signed the deal today for my new i30. It took some negotiating but got there in the end. It will be a 2009 SLX diesel manual, white, with carpet mat set and NO paint/fabric/rustproofing. I had already decided I wasn't going to get that anyway, but I couldn't believe the price quoted - just under $3000!! Not sure yet of delivery date but at least the decision is made and it's on its way. I'll get the window tint after-market and am considering a set of either 17" or 18' alloys/tyres. Can anyone please tell me what a fair price would be for 4 X brand new SLX alloys/tyres?

db08, exerlent choice, and even though i don't have white, i think White is the nicest colour. but a new i30 any colour is nice!
As for a fair price on the wheel's, i'd say see what you are offered. personally i like the SLX wheels, they don't look too over done, but i did like the wheels Drew has on his i30, they look class! just a bit too low profile in the tires for me ( i sometimes use rough roads ).
there is a company in Melbourne that do an electro coating on alloy its better than chrome looks great easy to keep clean does not corrode, i think the stock SLX wheels would look outstanding with that process.
good luck

Firstly welcome to the club...
Secondly congrats on your choice (SLX Diesel Manual.. way to go)
From your "educated" dealings and decisions I would hazard a guess you have been loitering on our site (in a nice way) for some time  :D

Thanks, and yes I have and have actually posted a few times too. I've been considering an i30 for quite some time but had two cars to sell so it took a while. The info on here is great and I like the fact that there are no negatives, everyone is so positive & helpful, unlike some other forums, so I'm happy to be on board and am looking forward to sharing info & experiences.

I've had a long day.. for some reason I thought it was your first post..

Congratulations on your purchase. Hope you get it soon. I have been waiting about 5 1/2 weeks so far for a silver diesel, but I understand there are a few white ones around so hopefully you will be lucky.
I agree with your comment about the forum, it is the most positive forum I have ever encountered.

Hey Eye i think that was what was quoted for paint and uphostery protection, not what the car sold for.

cheers

AHHHHH I see now. It was the way I read the sentence that confused me. Which isn't very often.

hey eye how long would it take you to drive into London? ( just wondering ) that's 400k ( about same distance as i drive to my gf's) takes me about 5 hours we have a slow speed limit.

The AA route finder says abiding by national speed limits about 4 hours.
But in reality - pick a number greater than 4.5 hours.
During nornal day, excluding accidents etc I would say 6 -7 hours

The joys of living in Tassie..
You can average nearly 100kms an hour at times down here. Unless you pick a busy time like Friday late afternoon someone in a "good car".. lets say an i30 diesel  could comfortably get from Devonport to Hobart (300kms ) in 3 hours...
