We used to drive up to Clacton sea front, send car headlamp flashing messages to Caroline 199 to show the crew support & request certain artistes.
Steered clear of Clacton, during the Mods & Rockers Easter period, all those cycle chains & the like

Well, I watched it as well, maybe you wouldn't watched it unless you remember Radio Caroline, so I think it does count :D
A very entertaining film with Bill Nighy, "Hollywooded" of course :whistler:

We have a local "community" radio station here. 104.9 Sunshine FM.
One of the announcers, now only on a few hours once a week but used to do the breakfast stint, was on Radio Caroline.
He told some greatstories.

And I saw "The Boat that Rocked" too.  ;)

I used to listen to radio Luxembourg. In between music there were adverts. One was a guy called Horace Batchelor  from Keynsham in Essex, who sold an infallible system to win the pools.

The system was called "The Infra-Draw Method", introduced each night on DJ Barry Aldis's programme at 8.30pm, and Horace would announce it (spelt out) K E Y N S H A M - Bristol. ( Not Essex  :D).
Also on 208, Radio Luxembourg, "The World Tomorrow" with Garner Ted Armstrong.

This yours truly is listed as 'Presidente' and appears as one of the broadcasters. He has an endearing humility if I do say so myself. :P

I used to enjoy touring the UK and being amazed at the ability to pick up broadcasts from other countries, quite impossible in Australia. :victory:

Off Topic - prematurely Sorry :)
I'm SO surprised  :D
My Wife & I regularly visit Costa Blanca (we were in The Benidorm Palace two weeks ago) and most mornings we listen to Howard Brereton & Steven Ritson for Spanish & World News on T.R.E.
Talk Radio Europe (http://www.talkradioeurope.com/)
Today was the report of a Spaniard's Wife obtaining a divorce, citing that each night he would walk in, slap his "tool" on the table and announce "These are in Charge".

Not for long, I suspect. :fum:

Actually Gonz, it's pretty easy. We have this thing now called the internet. :victory:

Sorry.

We used to pick up NZBC when I lived in Tweed Heads. I was working on the car one night and selected a radio station at random. Couldn't work out why the time calls were two hours later than I thought it was. :-[ :-[

You can pick up a few overseas stations if you're anywhere near the Great Ocean Road, too. :victory:

I listened to Caroline and also Luxembourg when a teen.

I planned to write off to K E Y N S H A M to get the system but my dad explained that it was a con. :)

Only 78 ?
In the 1960's, he always sounded so old that I thought "hasn't made enough money by now ?".
