Title: Converting Dashboard Displays from Imperial to Metric
Post by: cambo1982 on April 17, 2014, 19:48:29
Recently bought a 2013 i30 Active 1.6CRDi from the UK and imported it into Ireland so all the digital dashboard displays are in Miles, MPG, MPH etc...

From the manual, it would seem that the dashboard displays support displaying both metric (km, L/100 etc...) and imperal (mph, mpg).

However I haven't been able to find a way to switch them. Doesn't seem to be included in the manual and I've read it cover to cover twice. So...

1. Is this even possible or are they completely different computer systems that are installed in the car.
2. If it is possible, is it something I need to go to a dealership to get done.
3. If it's a "dealership" job, is it something I could do myself (I'm reasonably tech savvy) if I had the right cables/software to access the onboard computer/telemetry systems.

Cheers if anyone has any info. Google is proving especially useless on this one.

Wonder whether you need to be connected to hand/computer unit to alter calibration.

As i can change temp from C to F I'll check mine tomorrow to see if i can alter other readings.

Ps
i take it you need to convert as you are in southern ireland

According to the owners manual the only unit setting you can change is the temperature from C to F

You cannot change distance or speed

Can't you change it by using the options in the trip computer

I looked at that a while ago. With the 13, there is only the temperature,  you can't change from mph to kph or vice versa

Ok Thanks guys,

Yeah based in Southern Ireland. It's not to big a deal but it's breaking my brain a little as I'm having to convert everything in my head :-)

I'll give a local dealership a call and see what they say.
