Title: Space Station
Post by: AlanHo on April 19, 2014, 21:09:57
1 minute ago I saw (for the first time) the International Space Station cruise across a cloudless sky over Solihull.

On previous occasions when it passed our way the sky has been cloudy.

I subscribe to an email service which lets me know when the ISS will be visible in my area. It tells you the time, direction and duration.

Its just a dot of light no bigger than the background stars. It's only its steady passage across the sky that gives it away. I didn't time it but guess that we watched it for about one minute.

My eyes would never see it

You would be surprised. My wife is as blind as a blind thing, and she saw it easily. Saying that, we do live in an area free of much light pollution.
