Title: Globe replacement
Post by: FatBoy on May 16, 2014, 11:57:55
I was driving home tonight from the eldest boys football training, and noticed that the light wasn't as bright as it should be.  When I got home I checked and indeed the front left hand "dipped" light has blown.

I was going to splurge and get some Phillips H7 to replace them, unless somebody can recommend something else.

I found this on YouTube as well:

I found the Phillips ultra bright are far better than your average globes, but they still blow, watching that video I couldn't for the life of me work out why after doing all that work he just didn't pull the whole light out,as he still had restricted access, strange man

I'm using Philips X Treme Vision globes and I'm pretty happy with them.  :goodjob:
I've also used Osram's Nightbreaker plus globes and found them pretty good too.

Rusty can you comment on the longevity of the Osram nightbreaker plus. They appear to now have been superseded by the Osram nightbreaker ultimate. However I read about quite poor life with the Osrams.

Agree Rick ,far easier to take the whole unit out. Did a Ford Focus a while ago, very similar to i30, showed a guy on YouTube remove the battery and struggling like hell to replace the globe , I thought stuff that and  did exactly what the guy did on the i30 accept I took the unit out replaced the globe without putting my greasy mitts on it and replaced the unit in about 15 min. :goodjob2:

Yes, can't understand why you'd bother struggling when it's so easy to whip it out....  :D

But then some, believe it or not find the i30 headlight a struggle to remove....  :head_butt:
