Title: 4 speed auto problems
Post by: Craig00071 on May 17, 2014, 12:28:52
Don't buy an i30 diesel 4 speed auto.
The auto transmissions aren't real flash.
After only 253000km mine started whining..not the good sort of wine!
My car is out of warranty so I went on eBay and purchased a trans with 48000 on it from a wreaker in QLD. At $900 delivered and $820 serviced and installed the thing was slipping. The warranty covered parts and labour so I got my money back. Then I paid $1200 for a box from Sydney with 25000km. It's running but the change from second to third is like dropping the clutch in a manual. I paid an extra $200 for a six month parts and labour warranty though.

The transmission workshop said it was unheard of to get 253000km from my auto as they normally die from between 40000 to 80000km. He said maybe my Learner driver students were taking it easy on the car!
I caught a camery taxi to pick up my car. The taxi had 440000km and the driver said it hasn't missed a beat.

Badge snobbery...lol

Bit like some people's opinions on Hyundai.....thinking they are still the same as they were back in the Excel days...  :whistler:

BTW, me thinks these days the Daewoo Lacetti is actually a rebadged Chevrolet Cruze....
