G'Day all,
Picked myself up a Scangauge II yesterday from Wooders Garage in Horsnsby and I've temporarily mounted it similar to the photos in this thread https://i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,537.0.html
The gauge is showing some interesting info however it has now meant I can see the bottom portion of the trip computer on the dash.
I could lower the steering but doesn't feel right (maybe I need to re-adjust)
So to the main point of the thread.
What options have people looked at when mounting the Scangauge II ? Have you mounted it differently from the phtos in the thread I linked to ?

Hi Michael,
I think I am the one who posted the pics you are refering to. The secret was to bring the steering wheel forward enough so the guage could be lowered enough to ensure the bottom portion of the trip cpmputer was visible. It was a bit of a balacing act and it worked for me.
Hope you find the position for the guage that is going to work for you.

Mine is sitting on the opened door of the compartment below the climate control system on the dash.
It means I lose the storage area, but it seems like a convenient place and it's comfortable to look at.
I just used some zip ties to keep the cable away from my legs and fouling up anything else.

But I was always having to disconnect it so it wouldn't be in the sun and conspicuous to would be thieves. I ended up moving it to where ouri30 put his and by juggling the steering wheel position I am able to see 95% of the trip info and 95% of the scangauge.
I like the post Daz put up though, very funky.

In the end I spent some time adjusting the steering wheel position and then also the seat and the end result is I can see everything I want. The bottom two gauges on the Scangauge are half visible from a normal driving position so I moved the location of some around so the two I want to see are at the top.
Some dodgy phone camera shots and a certain 10K milestone reached :-)

how does the scangauge work,? can i fit it my self,?how much.? i dont have a trip computer. :eek:

Michael,
The Scanguage plus into the OBDII port under the dash, just to the right of the steering column. It gets it's info direct from the ECU and for distances and speed it is near enough to correct. If you have petrol engines, you will have a very good fuel usage computer as well. It seems that with CRDi there is an issue with the fuel figures. When the a/c is working, it messes with the fuel economy to the tune of 1.5 to 2 lph better than real figures.
Once you get the hang of how to work your way through the menus you can get all sorts of info about your engine. Trip information is held for current (since last engine start), today (based on a break of 12 hours), previous day and tank (since the last tank refill and reset). Each of these sections has loads of info about the trip.
Up to 4 guages can be shown at any one time in the guage display. You can even invent your own guage displays. In my Santa Fe, which doesn't have a trip computer, I have Current LPH, Tank LPH, KPH and Instant Fuel Usage as my 4 guages, but these can be changed with the press of a button. Three of those I have displayed are XGuages (ones I invented using the XGauge funtion).
As to cost, I'm I paid about $190 for then just over 12 months ago but they have gone up a bit since the dollar dropped.

That's quite cool. Not sure I'd like it up there though. I went for steering column as it is inline with the other standard gauges.
