Title: 45,000km Service
Post by: h20melon on June 04, 2014, 01:13:20
Hi all,

Dropped my car in for a service at Kmart Tyre and Auto this morning, as I have done for the past 3 services.  I supplied oil filer and oil being Shell Helix Ultra.

Just had a phone call from them saying that I have supplied the wrong oil.  This oil meets the specs according to the owners manual, and what is recommended by Hyundai, which is what I said to them, and told gem to use it anyway.

Also they stated that it is only semi synthetic, not full, which the Shell website states it is full.

Interesting....

I just rung them back to let them know that the oil meets the requirements, and he then said that it doesn't meet the requirements of diesel vehicles with a DPF, which I states that the i30s do not have a DPF in them.

He hen went on saying that what I supplied (the oil filter) is the DPF....

GO figure....

I think you need to choose someone other than K-Mart. You can tell by their knowledge that all is not well there.

Bit of a worry but at least they are on the ball and watching out for the wrong oils so I guess that's good.  :undecided:

Yeah probably will look elsewhere next time.

It's the only place that is walking distance to home where I can walk home and get my other car.

Will be interesting when I go in tomorrow morning to pick it up to see what they say.

So they thought that the filter was the DPF

Do. Not. Go. There. Again.

I have two rules for servicing, do not go to the Dealer, or Kmart.

I worked at Kmart as a youngster, and saw the refunds that they had to do for poor servicing...
