Hi all, there's multiple posts for this but nothing I can find directly related.
I have a 2011 i30 comfort. I have an iPhone 5s with OS7.1.1.
I can play my music using a cable as following :link: XCSOURCE HYUNDAI i10 i20 i30 i40 AUX IN Interface Adapter Cable For Ipod Iphone 3 4 MA16:Amazon.co.uk:Computers & (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B008RTJPKW?pc_redir=1402774404&robot_redir=1)
It works but I have no control using my steering wheel or radio. It just says 'AUX Connected'. I can play music but nothing much else.
I have tried using an official Apple 'lightning' cable but it constantly disconnects and reconnects every second for about 30 seconds and gives up and says reading error. The charger is fine. I've tried it with another, but to no success.
Help?!

The USB/iPod connection is actually suited for the iPod afaik and not the iPhone which will perform better with the Bluetooth connection if you have it.
When I plug my iPhone into that socket a lot of features fail and the iPhone itself will play up when disconnected until it is restarted.

Cheers for the reply. I have spoken to a hyundai garage. Apparently I need the official hyundai cable and the 30pin too lightning adapter. Apparently they're about £50 and mine hasn't got one...
-
I didn't think the iPhone 5 used a 30 pin connector
If they didn't have the cable I'm sure they would order it for you if you wanted one, I'd also mention to Hyundai that you'll pay for it only if it works.

Fixed the problem now. Brought a cable that was £7-8 off amazon that has a usb and headphone style jack that fits into the car with a 30 pin connector (old iphone 4 style) on the other end. I brought a 30pin connector to lightning for iphone 5 connector from a supermarket and all works well. Not bad for £33. Thanks

Is that from the Amazon link in your first post?
-
Yes. And an official apple product
-
Thanks, I might see if I can get from the Apple Store direct.
Just bought one off Ebay Genuine OEM $ 7.90 :)

Found your one here :link: Ipod Iphone 5 5s 5C AUX Cable Adapter TO Hyundai KIA I20 I30 I40 I45 Optima IX35 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/IPOD-IPHONE-5-5S-5C-AUX-Cable-Adapter-To-Hyundai-Kia-I20-I30-I40-I45-OPTIMA-IX35-/261502482429) and doesn't require an adaptor.

Mine was doing that too, when I tried it. Both with the cable that came with the 5S and one that I got off Ebay.
Good to see that you found a solution, as convoluted as it is.
Question, can't you use the bluetooth function?
-
The only problem with the Bluetooth is songs don't show up on the screen, you just get the basic functions but with no info on the song or play list unlike what you get when plugged in via usb.
-
My car doesn't have Bluetooth built in. That I'm aware of
-
Also craig. That does seem a decent product, but as being in UK, who knows about postage. I'm happy with the solution I have in place. Thanks though
-
Your welcome :)

And is that a problem? If it's on your phone wouldn't you know the songs?
I use mine mainly for streaming audio via TuneIn Radio Pro or for playing podcasts. I rarely play songs from my collection. The unit does have a CD full of MP3s in it which will get played occasionally.

I'm not going to remember 5000 songs
