Title: i30 Front Axle Nut Loose
Post by: kibe on July 26, 2014, 06:16:06
i30 was making a grinding noise from the front left wheel. Called road side assist and he found that the axle nut had come loose because the locking nut cover had not been crimped properly in the factory. The car had to be towed to the dealer for repairs as it was un roadworthy. Have only done 13000kms. Have read another owners had come loose from the same problem after only 6000kms. Not happy as my daughter drive the car and the front wheel could have came off

I think I prefer the split pin retainer, I'd be checking the other side too and maybe a gentle tap with a cold chisel on the crimped washer, just to make sure.
