Title: Single Journey MPG
Post by: MarkC on August 15, 2014, 15:54:36
Not bad mpg for a round trip of about 70 miles on a very congested M6, and some town driving.

Did you zero all before the trip otherwise the reading may be lower than the actual?

Yep, filled up this morning before setting off and zero-ed the trip. :goodjob2:

Did you also zero the cumulative mpg?

That is the cumulative mpg...I reset that when I filled up  :goodjob2:. Would probably have been better result if I hadn't floored it to overtake a JCB on one of the A roads near Congleton. The average dropped by about 3 mpg. I doesn't take much town driving to get the average right down, either.

I'm doing a similar trip on Sunday, and will reset the MPG when the temp gauge reaches optimum...traffic should be lighter though, so the temptation to go to warp factor nine where possible may make for poorer results   :whistler:

I did a DPF friendly Cannonball Run to Southport and back, without stopping, today, at Warp factor 9 where safe and legal...

Returned 57mpg for the 60 mile round trip, for which I achieved a 9.2 on the smugometer upon my triumphant return for a giant mug of strong tea and a bacon butty with at least half a pig stuffed into it.  And the sun was shining.... :victory:

Hopefully, your car has a nice clean DPF.
And you have an extra inch on your waisteline.

Smoked bacon on toasted extra thick white bread...with ketchup and an over-easy egg. Followed by a chunky kit kat....with very very strong tea.... :happydance:

Then I changed the oil on my newly acquired '85 Talbot Horizon. Its been a good day!

A proper minter Talbot Sunbeam Lotus sold for just over £50K at the NEC auction back in November, Johnno. It was slightly over my budget  :snigger:
