I've now done just over 3000 miles in my i30 since getting it in august. Loving the car and the economy but can't help but thinking the stereo an phone integration is a bit rubbish.
Am I being daft or is there no way of scrolling through the phone book or call history using the steering wheel controls? If I press the up/down arrows on the steering wheel it takes me to the next radio preset or CD track despite the phone options being shown on the screen. So unless I want to call the last person in the history I have to use the wheel on the head unit, which isn't really hands free. Am I missing something?

Well that is what I have to do as well... you have to use the button on the unit.
Unless someone else has been able to do it "hands free" please post and let us know how to do it..

The knob is there to perform the scrolling function. How else would you expect to scroll entries using hands free

On the steering wheel there is an up/down button.
Unfortunately this only does the volume.
Pity there isn't an over ride to allow you to scroll...

That's not hands free either and slower than the knob.

That's rather derogatory, Phil. :disapp:

:Dunno:

I'm not very good with smartphones (despite my reported 'expertise') but I still wouldn't like being called a knob.

On my old car you used the up down buttons to scroll through the phone book so you could keep your hands on the wheel instead of having to stretch over to the head unit. Seems a bit silly that the up/down buttons switch radio stations when I'm clearly in the phone menu.

Don't you have the "voice commander"? That'll work hands-free.

Yes, ocassionally it calls the right person ;)
