This is a true story.
This morning the cat decided to utterly destroy my anti-static feather duster that I use to keep my tv/stereo/computer/etc clean so after it got a pillow thrown at it I took my daughter to her before school care before heading into work.
I HEARD A RATTLE!
This is the first rattle I have heard coming from the centre console (I've had a small rattle on the door but nothing a bit of subtle pushing didn't fix.) The rattle was quite loud and very unnerving. It sounded like it was coming from the gearbox.
So I pulled over and had to try and answer many questions from my 5 year old daughter about why we had stopped whilst looking under the car as best I could. Well I didn't see anything strange, no oil leaks so I decided to at least get Hannah to OOSH (Out Of School Care) and then call the NRMA.
The rattle had stopped but I was still concerned and as I neared OOSH it started again. Hannah gave me a second by second update (you gotta love kids, cos if you don't you'd kill 'em) on how loud it was and how it sounded like it was coming from the middle of the car.
We get to OOSH and just as Hannah is about to get out of the car and I am about to call the NRMA she asks:
"Dad, can I have a TicTac?"
"Huh?" I replied, "Sure bub, go ahead."
She opens up the top compartment of the center console and pulls out the box of TicTacs and rattles them while I stare at them red-faced!
"Sounds like the rattle dad!" She says excitedly.
"Err, yeah... Good work," I reply, canceling the NRMA call.
Now, the stupid thing is (other than myself) that those TicTacs have been in the car for about 2 months and have never made a sound. Just to make sure it was the TicTacs that made the rattle I tested various TicTac positions on the way to work and sure enough they are the culprit.
Needless to say I wasn't in a very happy mood when I got to work so the poor servers got a big yelling at when I was checking the daily backups...
Thanks for listening/reading.
