Title: Sharkfin antenna
Post by: bachus on May 27, 2009, 04:42:02
Hi

not long ago I found that site http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html
That guys are selling a nice sharkfin antenna which isn't a dummy. Sadly it may not fit at the i30 antenna base but they are developing a new model. I emailed them and they responsed that it's almost done and it'll be launched in june.

This would probably a nice mod, though shipping to europe is expensive :/

At the moment neither the i30 nor the elantra touring (i30 is sold in the us with that name?) is listed at this site. But there are already some other hyundai cars...

(I hope my english isn't too bad ;) )

I must admit I don't like the sharkfin. When I first saw it appear on BMWs I figured it was some kind of spray washer, as it was positioned over the rear window.

I like the bee-sting aerial that comes standard with the i30s.

Welcome to the club (no problems with your english)

Thanks for the link.. I'm with Shambles and Hayseed I like the standard aerial better but I'm sure others would disagree..

Do you have an i30 (what model?) and is it modified much?

I don't mind the look of it, but the price is outrageous. US$69?!

Yes I have. It's an 1.6 petrol comfort edition with some additional features (I would call it style minus edition ;) )
It's not modded yet - just 1 month ago I got that car - but I already bother myself about that.

I plan to light the door reflectors - maybe I'll can figure out to add some at the back doors
Some modding with the entry guards is planned too.

And there is a little weird idea in my mind. I don't like the normal day running lights one can get. There must be something looking better! The question is, will it fit ?! I'll see. But this is one day in the future.

It's not clear to me right now, what will affect the 5y warranty...
.. and, what's legal in germany - the laws for modding are very restrictive over here.
ouch - that was much OT

I thought it might look okay on a hatch, but saw a pic, I'm not a fan/fin

No update at visualgarage til yet though announced for june 09 !
I found another one (http://www.ap-magazine.com/auto-parts-product/Detail_10849_Automotive-Combination-Antenna-AM-FM-+-GPS-.html) now that's possibly even better. Not ordered yet (haven't figured out how to and if it'll fit)
