Hi there,
Just a heads up - it appears that upgrading your iOS device from iOS 7 to iOS 8 breaks the ability of the i30 GD media console to recognise the media on your iOS device.
I noticed this while test driving 2 i30's recently, about 4 days apart. The first played music on my iPhone flawlessly, the 2nd wouldn't even read it as connected, so I could only play via Bluetooth which means no track details.
I then purchased one, and had the same issue. Noting I'd installed iOS8 on my iPhone inbetween the 2 test drives, I tried it on my wife's non-upgraded iPad and it works flawlessly.
Just something to be aware of if your iOS device says 'Media Connection Failed' when plugging in via USB - your car isn't broken, Apple changed something, so you'll either need to wait for Apple to patch it or an i30 firmware update to come out.

I just went and checked mine ( iPhone 4S ) and it's working for me, I normally only use the blue tooth for music but I checked it with the usb connection and it work perfectly.
Have you updated your phone to iOS 8.0.2 ?

Yep, running iOS 8.0.2
I tried unplugging and replugging the cable multiple times, and repeated procedure with various different cables incl Apple official cables.
Works about 15% of the time, the remaining portion it just comes up with Media Connection Failed.
Repeating exercise with iOS7 device, works every time.
Wonder whether the issue is with the phone or the media console?

I've tried several times now and mine is functioning perfectly every time, no one else here has an iphone so I cant test with another unfortunately.
If yours works 15% of the time I'm thinking it's the usb connection itself, have you looked into the usb port to see if there is any dirt/dust that maybe interfering with the connection.

The only thing that I can think of that I may have done differently is after the 8.0... update I went to ITunes ( online ) and deleted my authorisation then re-authorised via the itunes program on the computer and performed a new sync.

Working fine on UK Kia Cee'd which I assume is the same.

iOS 8.0.2 user here on an iPhone 5S. No connectivity problems with either Bluetooth or USB Lightning cable.

Despite the fact that the iOS 8 still works in the Kia, it has to be said Apple have really made a mess of it, less responsive, multi-finger gestures need rebooting constantly to make them work etc etc, wish you could go back to 7!

Yes there are quite a few bugs all through it in many areas, they did mention at the release that it was a work in progress build ( rushed out because of the new phone release :rolleyes: ) so there should be a lot of fixes coming soon I hope.

Can confirm I have also been having the same issue both on my old iPhone 5 and new iPhone 6 since upgrading the OS.
However, I found that if I go into my phone and manually start playing a song via iTunes or podcasts or whatever, after I have plugged it into the car it appears to fix the problem and works fine again.
