Title: Question about bluetooth and voice control
Post by: cobra8888 on November 02, 2014, 16:17:07
Hi, just bought a 2012 i30 crdi style today. However, the bluetooth and voice control does not seems to work when the stereo switched off, it works perfectly when the stereo is on. Is there any fault with the system or is the the way it works? Apart from this issue, the car drive wonderfully.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Yes the stereo system needs to be on for Bluetooth to work, it cant pair with the device otherwise.

I don't know about voice control as I don't have that feature on my 2013 i30

:whsaid:

My 2014 Style Nav also disconnects the BT/phone when the radio system is off. It follows that voice control is also disengaged with no power to the mike.

I have it on my car.

Tried to use it and gave up as it consistently failed to recognise my command.

ps
there is a detailed voice command vocabulary in the Handbook which you need to learn off by heart to ensure the correct words are said

pps
need to have radio on to activate bluetooth

Thanks a lot for the replies. Will I still be able to receive call using Bluetooth when the system is off? Can I use the voice command when the stereo off?

It seems strange I will have to switch on the stereo ever time I drive just to use the hand free function.

No to both.

The radio has to be on.

Turn radio on and turn sound right down.

If you don't want the screen to be light turn that off by pressing the button with a moon on it.

Thanks. One more question, is there any way to dim the brightness of the stereo display? I tried to use the dimmer switch on the right of the steering wheel but it seems like only dimming the brightness of the clock binnacle but nit the stereo display.

Thanks

No and Yes

No you can not dim but

Yes you can turn light off.

There is a button to press.

Check handbook for details for your model

Craig's 3 door and my wife's Tourer are imported from Europe and get Drls. Your hatch is from Korea and at this stage no Drls :pout:
