My first experience was with 3.1.
Then IIRC, 6.1

Oh. That was all after my AMSTRAD.  ;)

ETI660 single board hex keyboard assembly programmed kit computer, then Comx-35 colour computer, then Microbee Z80 based computer with assembler and MicroWorld Basic, then Commodore 64, then Amstrad PPC512 with MSDOS 3.3, then a series of 386, 486, Pentium and AMD PCs using MSDOS 6.2, Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows 95, XP, 7 and now Lucid Puppy Linux 5.2.8.006 (http://5.2.8.006).

Microbee, as above, then 8088 DOS, & 3.1, then 95, 98, 2000, XP, Win7 & Puppy Linux.

My first Windows installation started with Windows 2, which I installed for a couple of my bosses at work. Don't regret 'missing out' on Windows 1, the improved Win 2 was bad enough. :)

The bosses liked it for calendars and typing notes in Windows Write. It also impressed their boss friends who didn't have it - and most probably didn't even have (or want) computers. :)

Rarely used it myself, the DOS prompt was my normal environment - could run programs which didn't yet work under Windows.
