Anybody know why my headlamp washers are deploying correctly and spraying washer fluid fine but then failing to retract back into the bumper?
Is it pressure operated or is there a motor which should pull them back in?

They are deployed using the water pressure and should retract by a spring. Can't explain why they're not retracting.

Can they be pushed back manually?
If both sides have suddenly and simultaneously ceased to retract, it suggests an electrical issue.

I have a form of headlight washer on my car.........man with rag jumping out of car to wipe lens.... sometimes forgets to get back in car. :lol:

They can be pushed back manually, passenger side is stiffer than drivers side. I also suspect electrical but was pretty sure that they dont have a "rewind" motor so, a bit stumped.
Booked in for 13th Jan as the Kia man on skeleton service said he too was bamboozled and would prefer a real tech to have a look.
I also suspected the cold but it is much warmer today, almost double figures and it is still doing it. :'(

The more I read, the more I think cruiserfied is right - looks like it's water pressure that lifts the jets.

Not an uncommon thing for them to seize temporarily, it would seem...

Had seen the stuck up thread and noted that most manufacturers forums are full of similar tales, however they all seem to have fixed themselves when warmer, mine have decided to stay up whatever the temperature, not something a mid 40s guy would normally complain about but it looks like a bloody frog!!

Car in today, washer jet system faulty, difficult to understand what it is that has the fault as you get to speak to a receptionist and not a tech.
Parts ordered and booked back in for next Thursday for replacement.
I have to say that despite Kia being under the same multi-franchise as Hyundai up here the experience at the service desk is infinitely better, met at the gate by a valet parker who took the car and parked it while I checked it in, phoned at lunchtime to explain what they had done and what they were going to do, car "washed" and "hoovered" (not to my spec but they gave it a go!) and picked up within 10 minutes of entering the dealer tonight.
The Hy service always seemed to be verging on "you are bothering us", Kia seem to be much friendlier and willing to listen/help.
Now knowing how long it can take Hyundai to get parts up here I await the inevitable phone call to postpone my appointment,telling me that the parts are not available in the UK and will be sent by boat from Korea which was what you tend to get with Hy parts so I see no reason for Kia to be different, if they are (and these parts are not standard) then one will wonder why Hyundai parts are so difficult to get a hold of (the i40 forum is full of folk waiting weeks and even months for stuff to arrive for warranty repair!)

I believe there is a hy/kia parts warehouse near warrington. not far from steve so may be he can pop along and give them a shove for you.
