As we have many coarse bitumen roads here in Oz, I'd really encourage Hyundai to put a bit more sound deadening around wheel wells to help reduce this road noise.
I've also heard that these Original spec Hankook tyres on the crdi CW are pretty noisy anyway compared to say the Toyo's.
So maybe I'll try a different set when these wear down. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing a softer tyre maybe a bridgestone or a yokohama might be quieter (The wife's Tiida has Bridgestones and I don't know if they contribute to the lower road noise in that vehicle)
Several of our members are considering opting for the Michelin X1 tyres with low rolling resistance as replacements but haven't had any feedback on their quietness or otherwise....
Might have to do some googling for quiet tyres...

Yes I've heard about the new Mich's but they'll want top dollar no doubt.
Yes I'll do more ggogling down the track as I suspect tyre technology is always improving... and in a few months time we might have more feedback from fellow motogs.
Thanks anyway Dazz.

No Worries.. don't think the Michelins are as dear as you'd think (no dearer than Goodyears or Bridgestones..)

ok 12mths ago i had to replace two tyres (going into winter- didnt feel confident about the tyres) i went with Yoko A drives again... those new michelin ones were not widely available at the time and i think i was looking at 25-30 bucks more a tyre in comparison to the yokos which i knew and loved...
and i have to say that compared to the hankooks id go back to the yokos in a heart beat.

Ivana, did you find the Yokos to be much quieter on coarse bitumen than the Hankooks?

well i did have generics on my old car (excel) before i got the yokos.
and i found them to have better grip, they felt better to drive on and they did seem quieter. id definitely recommend them.
seeing as ive only just bought my i30 im not in a heaps big hurry to replace the tyres just yet.
