I have a problem,
The good wife took the kids to school today and had an issue with her 2012 FD I30. She tried to lock the car and she noticed that it hadn't locked, she check the doors and hatch, but it still took about 10 times to lock.
Upon her return the car wouldn't unlock she opened the car with the key (and set the alarm off).
Of course I can't replicate the fault. Hopefully it is one of those gremlins that doesn't reoccur.
If it was to reoccur, what tests can she/I do to try to point the dealer to the fault (because I hate "tested....no issue found", especially when the dealer takes the opportunity to charge for their time.
My initial thought is the door lock actuator is starting to play up (But which one, on the Falcon it was easy, because it was the door that opened when the car was locked.....) or some kind of alarm failure (Had an Iload refuse to accept the key once, that was fun....)

Could this be another bonnet sensor problem, I'd probably start checking from there first.

Could it be the old interference issue (parked near a radio transmitter or something?) :undecided:
If it happens again when she parks in the same spot, once she has got in with the key, get her to move to another spot say 50 metres down the road and try locking and unlocking with the remote again. :cool:

Apparently, the simplest way, is to tape a coin 5c onto the rubber actuator on the bonnet. This should ensure that the sensor mounted on the car is depressed properly when closed, might be a case of simple adjustment.

I was fairly cranky because I just took care of the last issue (house A/C stuffed......$2500 thanks very much) and the next day new whine is... For F#@ks sake I don't even get 24 hours......
Worked fine for the rest of the day.....Standing by for it to fail in the worst possible situation.........

I would be looking at the remote battery or the radio interference options, as the doors lock and unlock when the bonnet switch is not closed. Usually only the lights don't flash when the bonnet is "open", the doors still lock and unlock. Also if the doors are unlocking without the solid double clunk they used to make, and the car is taking longer to crank, I would check the condition of the car battery. Our school run is horrible on our battery.

My thought was the key presence switch because you had zero action from locks.
If switch sticks and vehicle is seeing key in door locks won't work.
Although interference from an external source is also quite possible.
