Hi,
Think this is a known problem, the tyre valve snapping off on vehicles fitted with the tpms.
Well it happened to me, all I did was take the dust cap off to put some air in the tyre!!! with the space saver wheel fitted, off I go to the dealership, service advisor says they no longer cover this on the warrantee, he said Hyundai UK sent a bulletin to them about 4 months ago saying so... I said its a Hyundai part and it should be. They said people place the tyre inflator on the valve too hard and they snap, so with that I tell them "well they are not fit for purpose, it's not as if I have kerbed the wheel, then I could understand" he said they have to fill in a report and send it to Hyundai direct and they decide.
I've noticed now they fit stainless steel or rubber ones, is this an admission that the aluminium ones were to week?
Anyway I have to wait now for Hyundai to get back to the dealership.

That's very annoying. Aluminium wouldn't last too long with the road conditions you have over there. A bit of salt and the aluminium will break down and corrode into the thread, then snap. :fum:

Sorry to hear that! :Pout: I believe the trick is to smear them with vaseline or similar regularly to reduce the corrosion and therefore risk of breakage. Try and stand your ground with the warranty claim (quoting fit for purpose may push them over the line) :goodjob:

Valve being replaced under warrantee, it took 3 emails to customer services and over a week for them to decide, I basically said design not fit for purpose, they should have replaced as a matter of urgency and not let me drive round with a defect to a safety system of the car.
I have also asked them to replace the other 3 valves to prevent a reoccurrence and explain why they are defective.

Good result, but sad Hyundai won't acknowledge their warranty responsibility.
