I have a new gear knob and looking to change for the existing one. Just wondering how? Any help would be appreciated
-
The knob should just unscrew.
You might have an issue with new knob, I think the reverse lockout sleeve (the bit you lift up to get into rev) is recessed up into the knob.
Won't take long to find out if it works though.

Cheers, I've tried unscrewing it, I really don't want to break it... I guess I'll give it a go again tomorrow!

Any chance of a picture so I know I'm thinking of correct knob?
(Tim sits back and waits for knob jokes to start)

My knob fell off a couple of months back.... :snigger:
Well, it was actually the silver insert but as it was dark at the time I'd thought my knob had come off in my hand... :Pout:

The problem with screwing it off is the lever bit to get into reverse

Right. Glad you got the picture because that's definitely not the shift knob I was thinking of.
I think that you have to lift the leather boot and access a couple of screws that hold the knob to the gear stick. No unscrewing at all.
Are you sure your new knob will fit?

Having looked at it up close it and next to it I'm still unconvinced even though it says it will where i bought it... (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/20/72e2e9e9003c259ee9dae55121203c91.jpg)(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/20/ef2e2b9102b7747625c99d1f2d32b615.jpg)

I think the biggest issue with the new one is how will the reverse lockout work with it?
It also looks to be a screw on one and I don't think your original is screw on.
-
Yeah, it doesn't fit, I've worked that out now! Cheers for your help

No worries. Hopefully you can get a refund.
