While I'm in the mood for some more suggestions...
I'm surprised that the rear cargo area in the wagon does not lie flat. This makes loading certain objects (like heavy cardboard boxes!) more difficult and one can easily end up having to bridge a box across the void between the seat backs (which are at an angle) and the rear cargo floor (which is flat) and I fear I'm going to cause some long term damage to the seat hinges doing this.
It would take the designer to hinge the rear seat section so these seats could swing up and forward behind the front seat backs, and then that would make room for the rear seat backs to lay flat.
The Kia Rondo does this as well as many versions of wagon going back to at least my parents Holden EJ wagon.
As it is, the lack of this 'standard' wagon feature seems to make the CW a bit of an afterthought..... though it is nice to have the extra leg room and rear parcel room compared to the Hatch.

Hi Terry,
It is a backwards step as the hatch squabs fold forward (60/40 split) so you can lay one or the other or both the seat backs flat...
It must be one of the "unexpected surprises" they advertise for the wagon :lol:
:idea: Find a "wrecked" hatch and retro fit this feature from that :wink:

i'm fairly sure you fold the bottom of the saets up and then fold the backs down,then cargo area is completely flat,the same as a hatch.

Did you get your CW yet 2i30's ( feedback from CW owners seems to suggest they don't have this feature) but can't be sure...(I've only had a quick look in the flesh)

I think if you read the fine print some of these pictures are taken from one of hemmi's hatch threads....

I've just had a closer look again at the rear seat setup and I can see no way for it to fold flat. It does not have the little tag to pull out to enable the lifting of the seat section and the whole seat section is one bench seat rather than two or three sections which allow for each one to be folded forward to enable lay flat... unlike like the hatch I suppose.
Silly oversight really... and does handicap the CW somewhat.

It's a bit crazy because from memory even the Getz back seat folds flat...

bottom of seat wont fold up,i must of looked at a hatch picture,but i did think the cw folded the same way. :

The seats in the wagon are actually bigger seats then in the hatch, that's why they don't lie flat.

They may be bigger and more comfy butthere is still plenty of space behind the front seats for the rear seat to hinge up and the rear backrests to fold flat IMHO.
I think it was a design oversite myself... perhaps in a hurry to release it as a wagon ... and which is a very silly oversite.

In my US version I had to take the back seat out to remove a spider (my wife would go crazy if she ever saw it), and there is no way the bottom could fold forward. I would think some hinges in the front would fix the situation though.

It only sunk in that the rear seatbacks don't fold flat on the CW a few days after I ordered the car...
Agree it isn't perfect but the benefit is the nearly flat load space is a bit longer (there isn't a ridge from the rear seats on edge). I agree if you're carrying something that needs to be supported over the whole length then the kinked floors is a problem though.
The good news is we moved some domestic stuff from Germany to UK a few months ago and found the slight slope on the folded read seats didn't have a detrimental effect on the crates of Weissbier and the extra weight really settled the suspension. The bad news is the beer hasn't lasted as long as expected (but the good news is they're still making beer and the ash cloud doesn't affect the ferries)
The unexpected plus point of the seat bench not tipping up is that the rear seat wells are empty so all the overnight bags and various other junk fits in the footwells.

Good result all round by the sound of it... Has got me beat why they didn't make the CW the same as the hatch in that regard.. If anything you would think it would be more likely to have the completely flat floor in a wagon than a hatch.. :rolleyes:
It put me off upgrading to the wagon even though I like the back of the CW more and the 100 extra litres would be handy... :cool:

The extra 100lit is useful but as an ex country bumpkin I just liked the larger boot opening and that I can sit on the boot to take my wellies off when it's raining!
The mobile seat was expensive though, £700 to buy and an extra £60 per year on road tax due to the slightly higher emissions.

We don't have the emissions tax over here yet but the CW is about A$2500 more than the hatch I think over here although the entry level hatch is now a 1.6 petrol and the entry level C.W. only comes as 2.0 ltr petrol and 1.6 Diesel...

What a waste :( I wanted the wagon, but if the seat doesnt fold flat then I'm glad I couldnt wait & got the hatch!
