just phoned my dealer to get the optional 1st year oil and filter change and he quoted me 135 pounds, i bought the car as ex demonstrater in october and was sure they told me it was about 80 pounds at the time
Anyone else had to pay that sort of money

1st year 12 month service isn't optional... it's a compulsory service :confused: 135 pound is roughly $264 here so probably about right for a diesel I think, supplying your own oil can cheapen the blow.
The non compulsory 6 month services are also more expensive than the yearly capped services.

Very weird, long life oils only last 15 to 20 thousand km's - 20,000 miles is way past optimal :wacko:

My next service is a interim and was quoted to have the optional oil & filter change is £78

that's the sort of price I was expecting, maybe I will try another dealer to get some comparison prices, wouldn't mind £80 but £135 is a bit rich for an optional oil and filter change, might be easier to get a filter from Hyundai and do it myself

What is the mileage?
This is important as to whether you need the 12 month service.
For my car:
If less than 10,000 miles you need service.
If 10,001 plus up to 19,999 then not required.
Odd situation isn't that the more miles no service required.
Check your service book to make sure you do not invalidate your warranty....

its due next month and will be under 10, 000 as its at about 7300 at the moment.
So i phoned another dealer and got a quote of 99 pounds, then called back the supplying dealer and they matched it.

so why do it at all?

Because as far as i am aware when it is doing less then 10,000 miles a year it needs to be changed every year

OK, that seems counter intuitive to me.

Doesnt make much sense, i assume that if it is below 10,00 they assume that its not doing many motorway runs, either way wasnt very comfortable at leaving the oil in there for 2 years, even though it is supposed tolast that long

My first service was 130 Euros, so thats about 85 pounds I guess. For oil filter and plug and 5,3 liters of shell helix 5w30.
