Hi to everybody,
I decided to replace the simple bulbs of the rear lights with a LED ones.Si I bought a pair of these and when I replace them when tou switch on the lights the 3rd brake led stop is light up.......WHY??????
-
Hi KKOM.
Did the fitting kit include resistors? Maybe the bulbs have the resistors fitted already.
All I can think of is the lighting control module (is it called the BCM?) doesn't recognise you have lower-resistance LED bulbs fitted therefore thinks your bulbs have blown, so illuminating the 3rd brake light?
Hemmi is the expert - he'll be along shortly to make sense (or otherwise) of what I mean...

Isn't he away?

It was his Birthday Yesterday but don't think he's away...

Try taking out the globes and turning them 180degrees. LED's are polarity sensitive. It might be pushing current back up the ground wire to light up the middle LED's somehow - just a guess. Will only work for single filament globes as the dual filament only go in one way, as one 'peg' of the bayonet is positioned differently from the other to make sure the correct side of the bulb is lighting up.

I must admit I don't understand what you mean by 3rd break light? :S

Hemmi, I think he was talking about this next light. We also call it 3rd brake light..
