After 5 years and some 92,000k's my baby is now out of warranty... :(
Faults?...there's been a few, the rubbish drivers side door seal being one of the standout issues...and one I refuse to accept as not being a warranty issue, regardless of what Hyundai and some on here say... :whistler:
Then there was the hole that wore through the drivers side seat.... :fum:
There was also the rear quarter panel window that needed to be replaced....oh, and the rear vision mirror that "buzzed"... the squeaky drivers seat and the rear spoiler that started to lift and come loose....the cover on the gear shift knob that came off in my hand just recently....hmmm, oh and the keyfob that wasn't up to the task because, apparently I dare to have finger nails.... :head_butt:
All in all though, I'm been pretty happy with my car generally and if I had the money I would purchase another Hyundai....thanks mainly to that amazing little turbo diesel, it really does pull over and above it's weight.... :goodjob:
Now, if only Hyundai Australia would pick up their act and offer real customer service...
Here's to another 5 years.... :drinks:

Decided to shout my i30 a vacuum & a going over of the interior with some Armor All for it's 5th birthday....Not before time too as it hasn't been done since around July last year... :-[

Congrats on joining the 5 year club

Well done, Rusty!! I still prefer the FD over the GD, having owned the Chubby Chariot (FD) and driven a GD at work.
Either way, they are a great car for the price!!
-
Thanks Jamie! :goodjob:
Yeah, the FD has "character".... :D
-
Nice résumé, Russ :goodjob:
Mind if I move it to "Testimonials"? That way we can blap it on our portal page :D
-
Thanks Steve.... :victory:
As for the move, stick it wherever you think best suits....failing that, "testimonials" will be fine...
-
92,000 your baby is still young....
Mine will have at least 130k when she turns 5....Then I think I will send her away for a sexy new one :whistler:
-

Yes, and being retired none of those k's are from driving to work... :D

AMEN TO THAT! I'm on my second Hyundai. My first 2004 Sonata my 20 year old son is driving and it's still going strong. But in the last few years of having my i30, 5 next month, I have noticed that customer service is lacking in a few dealerships. Unfortunately for me the dealer I bought my car from, A GOOD DEALERSHIP, is a little too far away for servicing and the one closest to me are a waste of space.

Congrats on joining the 5 year club
There's a 5 year club? :undecided:
Bugger. I'll have to change my signature again. :D

As part of it's birthday I shouted my baby a clay bar "massage", finishing her off with a dose of Mothers California Gold Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax...
I'm quite happy with the results.... :victory:

Nice work rusty. Looks great even on my phone!
-
Looks good Rusty :goodjob2: polish should have been applied after clay barring though then wax on top to protect the polish :)
-
Cheers Craig, yeah, there's probably a few things I should've done but as I'm recovering from a broken ankle I was forced to take the odd short cut... :-[
As it was, it took me the best part of a week to get it all done...

Oh! that's no good  hope it heals up fast for you.

It seems harder to make a white car show a good shine, but you've inspired me Rusty! I have a clay bar kit and Jetseal for desert! My hip wont like it though! :goodjob:
-
Thanks Craig, it's getting there but standing around on concrete soon has it swelling and squatting down low requires major effort ...
It also doesn't help that I'm a fat b*stard..
-

It'd look better on my driveway :P
Good work with the Shining ;)

I was listening to something on the radio the other day and they said old people have to use it or lose it, even when they are injured.... :whistler:
-
I'm safe then.... :P :D
-
I'm safe then.... :P :D
Yeah, from what I've heard he's using it.. Just not to polish his car.. :whistler:
-
Hey, what do you think I used to "buff" things up with, Daz? :whistler: :snigger:
-

You big girl, you. :D

:P :spitty:

Yep, I need to "Clay Bar" our shiny Red i30 too.
It's been playing on my mind, have not done it for over 2 years.
Roger the Dodger :undecided:

Your car came up great, Rusty. The clay bar is a fantastic thing to do for your car, I'm sure that it loved it. As I've said on another thread, I've done the clay bar, paint repair, polish and then wax. It took all day, but my car came up fan-bloody-tastic!!
-
Thanks Jamie... :goodjob:
It's now in need of a good wash after my trip to Adelaide.....bloody rain!!! :undecided:
-
Sorry to hear about your ankle Rusty, how did you do that. ?
By the way good job with the car, It doesn't seem like 5 years, how time flies.
-
Thanks Trish.... :D
I broke my ankle bushwalking so that's it, no more exercising for this little black duck...
The poor ol' ambos had to carry me out as they couldn't get a chopper in to airlift me out...
-

I thought you said they could have, Rusty, but couldn't get one with a high enough payload capacity to winch you out.
(From one big guy to another, all said in love, in a very non-sexual, manly way, of course. :D).
-
I love you too, Dave... :DoubleKiss:
Must admit I would've liked to have been air lifted out but then I would've missed out on all the fun I went through being jostled and bumped and nearly dropped over all those hours it took them to get me out....
-
I always said Bushwalking not good for you.
-
My i30 is officially 5 years old this coming Friday. What a great vintage!
-
WooHoo! :drinks:

Well....5 years on the road today....
My diesel is a fabulous car. I have only had one warranty claim. It was a battery, which was dodgy from the start but replaced (quite reluctantly by my local Hy) a week before my car was a year old. It hasn't missed a beat since.
I still feel just as I did after I took a diesel for a test-drive early in 2010. I said to the saleswoman..."There IS such a thing as a free lunch! It's got so much go in it yet it is incredibly frugal on fuel!"
Bring on the next 5 years....
-
Gee Paolo, you are making me wish I'd kept mine now! :blubber:
-
The ABC morning presenter in W.A. was raving on radio about the i30 diesel.
He drives a Chrysler 300 diesel and when it was in for service his loan car was an i30 diesel.
He loved it and was amazed how good it was to drive. :)
