Must have been on the line for some time now because I drove one of the new ones 3 weeks ago when the DK dealers had the intro of the facelifted i30.... I especially like that the 1,6 CRDi now have 280 Nm @ 1500-3000 revs...  :happydance:

The one I drove only had 23 km on the odo so was still a bit gutless but could easy feel the torque set in earlier than my old FD.

I bet it will be a lot better at towing the caravan....

Bloody hell,I didn't think they could make the I30 any worse than it is now, love the back end design but the front I have always hated, now they've made it a damned side worse  :disapp:

I don't think white is its colour.

I think "exciting" is a gross overstatement. IMHO they got it as right as was possible with the last (2012) update.

Just my $0.02

Absolutely  ...but, you know what, the old FD just keeps going better and better as it grows old, so I'll keep it as long as it behaves well....  :victory:

I have a Google alert set up for 'i30 turbo' as I assume the motor mags will review it when it makes an appearance.

Doubt I'll buy one, just keep plodding around in my old 'un - but who knows? :)

I had some time to kill today, so drop into the local Hyundai dealer to have a sticky at the Genesis (which didn't really impress, not for that coin) the Sonata which was park next to did impress, great lines.

Park in front was the new Series 2 GD and the older GD2 so I took the opportunity to take a snap.
Visually there is one difference the Grille which I'm undecided if it's an improvement or not. My son who was with me at the time was abetment that the older style grille was much nicer.

What's your preference ?

I did also notice the pricing on the older style was only $17488 which is a whole lot of car for that price.
Must be a great time to be in the market as dealers clear the old stock for the new facelift model

I don't think the new grill is that bad...the chrome strips going all the way down give it the appearance of more depth which I think makes it look slightly more aggressive " I cant decide "

At the moment I still like the grill of the gd on the right, the chrome strips seems to flow with the lines of the bonnet and seems to break the grill up with only 2 chrome strips making it look a bit smaller than the new version. Who know's it might grow on me.(http://www.4smileys.com/smileys/love-smileys/hug_smiley.gif) (http://www.4smileys.com)

Out of those two I prefer the new one.
But overall, I prefer the original GD Active front.

I don't care too much about the looks, I'd only upgrade if the turbo version meets my  desires. There ain't any older ones going cheap in the sell-off of last years models.

The chrome going from end to end looks even better than the one pictured above, might have to think about ordering one :D

Placement of number plate might spoil it a bit though.
Why do we have to have front number plates?   :undecided:

Doesn't look like we would save on shipping, by ordering two including shipping would be $539.96, we'll see in a couple of months how the dollar fares :goodjob2:

My brother and family is stopping at Korea on their way back from the US so he is going to pick me up one of the new grills, it'll cost me roughly $260 when converted to AUD.

Dave, he can only bring one extra package with him unfortunately :Pout: the grill has to be unpackaged a put in a bogie board case as carry on luggage.

I recognise that the diesel is better for most Australians because you enjoy a warmer climate and generally drive longer distances regularly.

In Europe it's different.

Most private buyers are family people who need a car for running about locally, visiting friends and relatives occasionally and driving long distances rarely. For such people (like me) a diesel with a DPF is a bad choice - it is why when we came down to one car between us, I changed to petrol.

In the UK new car sales are mainly to leasing companies and commercial enterprises. They are attracted to diesel because they are more economical on fuel and the employees car tax is much lower.

So petrol versus diesel is not one choice fits all - it depends on individual circumstances.

So do we take it from the redesign that "fluidic design" is no longer the ethos?

The original GD, ix20 and i40 all had the chrome "separators" in the headlamp cluster being extended into the chrome of the grill, creating the overall look of it belonged together, the new one looks like an aftermarket upgrade IMO. :undecided:
