Thought I might as well finish up with the exterior mods while I'm in spending mode :snigger: so I have finally ordered the rear LED's that I've been eyeing off since buying the car nearly 20 months ago :happydance:
At least I'll be able to fit these myself.
-
Come on Craig you know the rules.
Pictures please
-
I haven't got the lights yet :p only just ordered them but they look like this.

Yeah, I've got those too.......... :cool!:
-
I was over the moon with excitement when the tail lights turned up an hour ago...a few days earlier than expected, open the box and realise they've sent me lights for a different vehicle :disapp:
Morons
-
Bugger! :Pout:
-
Sorry, but
-
I can understand your disappointment Craig :disapp: I too have been eagerly waiting for a mod (very small one) to arrive, over 5 weeks now so assume it's lost by Aussie Post. The seller has refund me, so that's all good, but I have now lost the drive to do it.
Hope you still go ahead with your mod and provided a step by step post

That's no good Joe :disapp: this is the first time ever for me that a wrong part has been sent and I've already sent KMP a nice little complaint email :TutTut:
-
KMP that's where my mod was coming from, they need to pick up their game

Bugger.
I was full of excrement too.

I was full of excrement too.
I'd throw it at them :)
-
Fingers crossed that second time round the correct lights are delivered tomorrow :fingers: they're already in Perth so should be at my doorstep by 1pm :)
-
Yippy! they're the right ones this time :happydance:
Very easy to install, there are slight differences in the tailgate lenses with the brake lens being thinner allowing for a larger reverse lens.

The only annoyance is the indicator bulbs in the new lights have directly opposing pins where the standard bulbs were offset, now my Diadem indicator bulbs don't fit :Pout:
-
Looks good, pity about the other bulbs! :undecided:
-
Next time it's dark, which should be tonight by my reckoning, can we have a photo of them in action?
You might need to recruit an assistant, unless you have exceptionally long legs
Great job on the swap :goodjob:

Yeah a slight annoyance, I could cut and rewire the other connectors on but I was in a rush to get them installed :)

I can do that :)
If I was Dave I could possible use my other longer leg :whistler:

Here's a better shot, modified from earlier to improve picture.

They look pretty bright, Craig...How do they compare to the standard ones? :undecided:

Much brighter, the phone only showed a red haze so had to use my camera, I had to play around settings to even get the poor quality shown there.
If your standing to close to the back when the brakes are applied it's bloody blinding
-
Thanks for that....Are they ADR compliant? :undecided:
You might get pulled up for dazzling drivers... :whistler:

They are genuine OEM Hyundai lights by Mobis so they should be compliant, they're the same as what's on the SR's :)
-
I modified the earlier pictures, they were crap :)
-
Now those I do like.
-
I'm so glad i've got those too, I love them :victory:
-
Look awesome at night Craig!

Thanks Dazz, while waiting for the little woman at the train station this evening a couple that was walking by commented on the lights looking hot :) I might as well have the badges removed...every person that comments asks what it is :whistler:
-
Time for the big I30 decals up the sides.

Time for the big I30 decals up the sides.
:faint:  the badges are 4-5 inches across, how does one not see them  I had one person say nice Honda...I guess he just looked at the H and thought nothing more :headbang:
-
Oh I know how dumb people can be.
should have told him how good it is when the CVVTec kicks in hahaha.

Would actually look pretty good with the black decals Trish's tourer has!

Me like! I seen an i30 with these earlier last week! I think having a red car I should get these to verify i'm braking for the visually impaired (those that rear end you that always say I didn't see you braking). Do you mind if I ask where you got these beauties? Plus anyone on the Sunny Coast able to install if I get them (not up with mechanics or wiring)? Would be greatly appreciated

@Kerston, I got them from KMP ( Korea Motor Parts ) Ebay :link: LED Rear Tail Light Lamp 4pcs FOR Hyundai 2012 2015 Elantra I30 5DOOR | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-LED-Rear-Tail-Light-Lamp-4Pcs-For-HYUNDAI-2012-2015-ELANTRA-I30-5DOOR-/261475640462?)
They made a listing mistake when I purchased mine so I got them for $664 :happydance: at the price they are now they're still half of what Hyundai charge :disapp:
They are very simple to install in roughly 30 to 45 minutes and plug straight in using the standard connectors, if you are unsure about doing it yourself maybe your father - brother or boyfriend/husband could help you but if you don't trust them with ya baby either  I'm sure a nice auto electrician or even your local Hyundai service centre would fit them for cheap.

@craigb I would get dad to do them (mechanic) slight drama he's in TAS, downside of living so far away.
I'm sure I can bribe my step-dad

P.S. Thanks a bunch.
Not doubting that I couldn't do it, just don't wanna make a mistake

Your very welcome :thanks: sounds like step dad is going to get a friendly call, you can convince him with your baking skills :goodjob2:

-
Thanks Raid, I'm glad I made the change to the LED's :goodjob2:
-
Goodjob craigB you make me wants to change mine aswell lol and by the way craigB any chance you would know how to remove the rear fog lights plz.
Thanks
-
Better create a new post to for removing the rear fog lights lol sorry
-
When I bought my LED taillights they came with P type indicator adapters which meant that I lost the use of my Diadem indicator bulbs :Pout:
Today I finally decided to pop into the local auto electrician and see what he'd charge to change the fittings over to the PY type I had previously that match the front lights, 15 minutes later at $20 it was all done :happydance: cheaper than me going out and buying a soldering tool and shrink connectors :D
