I agree, and it should be commended. What about here, in Australia? How much do they cost the taxpayer of the UK? Wasn't the Queen nearly broke a few years back? How can somebody run out of money that has their picture on it?
I would rather that my Head of State was actually a citizen of this country (not dual citizen either), or at least lived here.

I don't believe that the Duke of Edinburgh Award is a Charity, however I stand to be corrected. Yes, the Award does great things for young people to inspire them. However, from my experience, this is directed at the already privileged youngsters.

I even heard some people say that they prefer the Royals!! FFS, we allow these people to breed.
IMO, the last referendum had the best option, that was a person chosen by a 2/3 majority of Parliament, just like the GG now. I've heard people say that they don't want a politician as Head of State, which is fair enough, but they want to be able to vote for them. FFS if you vote for them then they will be a politician!!!!!

Not quite, the Award invites youngsters of any background to accept the challenge. It is a self development course for the individual, with charitable components of their choice built in as well. It was offered to both of my children at school. It isn't an easy award to gain either.
Having said that, I'm not a fan of the Royal's in any shape or form. I think they create division in society and their expectation that everyone should treat them differently, is an insult to me.
A little story about Andrew. In London and required for a dinner in Scotland. Flies to Scotland, but the jet is delayed for some reason. Guests are gathered at the function, waiting, waiting, waiting. Finally, he arrives and a reporter asks if he is going to apologize for being so late. He replies, "I'm not late, they arrived too early." :fum: :fum: :fum:

Prince Harry has been in Perth for a few days, working with our SAS.
His every move is being watched by the media and his young and old followers.
He's very popular.
