I watched it right through. I was fine until he went outside the tower... Far out, there is no way I'd do that last bit even with a safety line!  :crazy1:

Heights don't bother me but that might slightly be pushing the boundries  you'd get lots of days off at least with that job due to poor weather.

I've seen that one before, never ceases to frighten me.
On our boat I'd climb the mast about 50' and it had steps all the way. You often have to con the boat from a vantage point when entering coral anchorages.
I'd still come down exhausted, even a small job like changing the anchor light,  just from the exertion of hanging on.
When under way and trying to sort out a jambed spinnaker block or some other heavy work, it kills, the pendulum effect is phenomenal.
Took my hat off to that bloke on Aus 2 when he went aloft to jury rig the main's halyard lock, superman stuff at over 2x my mast height.

I'm with Daz on this one....no problems while in the cage but once he steps up to the spear without a safety cage, I'm out....

I have always thought the antenna workers have at least one safety line attached all the time when climbing, and attaching another before removing the other when going over joints. I can't believe how can that be allowed in any western country in modern times!

I assume the video is from USA. So, 1) the antenna worker must have very big paycheck for doing that, 2) there must be a non-liability contract which frees the company from any compensation claim in the case of accident. I doubt such contract would be possible in Europe.

Regardless of non-liability contracts, in Oz, occupational health and safety laws would prevent any employee / company entering into such an agreement. It is just stupid to risk your life in this way. There are so many things that could go wrong.

Failure of the structure due to lightning / rust/ or loose connection.
Snagging of the bag, causing imbalance.
Unexpected onset of vertigo.
Physical impairment (Cardiac arrest, stroke etc.) no one can plan when one of these is going to happen.
Gastric issues, (from a dodgy curry).
etc.

There are filmed events of workers being killed on TV tower collapses, I wouldn't show them here of course, so it does happen.

"what happens when there is a quick shift in weather" I'd crap myself, and that's only going up 4 runs of  the ladder
