This fun YouTube video features a 1980s pop classic.
The rock band Toto scored their biggest hit with Africa in 1982. The song is instantly recognizable. But it has been reinvented.
Perpetuum Jazzile is an acappella jazz choir from Slovenia. It’s hard to think of something further from an ‘80s rock band. But their version of Africa may better the original.
But the beginning of this video is really striking.
Group members simulate an African thunderstorm with their hands. It’s really something to see and hear.

Loved it Steve, amazing and me likes the laydee with the blue belt/waistband very much too
-
I loved it too  (and the young redhead in the front row with the yellow dress...)
In fact there were many ladies in the front row I wouldn't climb over to get to you
Is there any way of saving that to your hard drive? (I have saved the link to my favourites)
I think it is better (more lively) than the original...

There's quite a few flv-to-avi converters going free. Can't recommend any particular one as I haven't used one

Thanks I'll look into that :D

Very nice
Made me want to dust off my old Toto CDs, i love the original Africa and this version is very good but the original is still the best IMO.
-
I just watched Toto doing Africa live on You Tube.. It's a close call...(I know which one "looks" better thought )

I found and downloaded a free Flv to Avi converter and a free FLV player and found a way to download you-tube videos to play and convert with these tools...
If I'm not on here much for a few days you'll know what I'm doing (they work great :D)
-
If you want to save youtubes as portable format, use http://vixy.net which downloads the vid for you, converts it how you want, then delivers you the final file.
Or it used to...
-
Yeah I'll check that out but I have managed to download Perpetuum Jazzile and play it in HQ on my pc with the free FLV player and then convert it to a HQ DVD quality Mpeg (got to be happy with that!)

I've heard about them. They are known, but not enough I think. Are they successful..not that much.. Many "rock" bands and so called "turbo folk" bands etc are much more successful than Perp. Jazz. That would be ok if the rock bands were any good..but they are not..
-
It doesn't matter to me how famous they aren't... I loved their accapella (and one or two of the choristers :) )
-
I checked out that BeeGees medley .. they cheated  with a keyboard...
I doubt they could top the Toto song.. but I will search for more...
-
Absolutely brilliant
I agree. As good as Toto's but on a different level

But the beginning of this video is really striking.
