G'day mate,

You won't miss the Falcon......

You will have many many years of trouble free miles, which is more than you can say for the Falcon  :whistler:

Mmmmm 3door.

Welcome. What spec is it?

Not sure what spec tbh, I know it's a 1.6ltr manual 3 dr hatch...

I was pretty impressed with how good the 3dr hatches look, way nicer than the 3dr I20. Also suprised at how few there are around, carsales.com had about 22 australia wide but approx 350 5dr hatches.

I guess people must not like the impractical side to 3drs...

They are built in the European factory, whereas all the 5 door hatches come out of Korea (for Australia anyway)

The 1.6 is a more advanced Gasoline direct injection (GDi) motor, which is noticeably more economical than the 1.8 petrol that the 5 doors run.

Due to the less favourable exchange rate with the Euro, they tend to discount the regular models more and only bring in the 3 door in limited numbers. At one stage they stopped bringing the 3 door in, not sure if it is currently listed on the Hyundai site..

With the previous (FD) series cars the QC of the Euro built cars appeared lower than the Korean built cars in my opinion, but may actually have swung the other way with the series GD models!  :goodjob:

Thanks for the info Dazzler, pretty interesting, I didn't realize any of the I30s came from Europe...

Just another question, the car I'm getting has an aftermarket exhaust on it. Just wondering how do I tell if it's a full exhaust system (all the way through) or just the muffler?

I suppose I should just ask the car dealer?

Welcome StevieWysocki!  :drinks:

In case you haven't read any reviews, here are a couple:

I believe the 3 door SE was a limited run introduced in July 2013....
5 door SE's were introduced in September 2014 while the 2 door was dropped....   :undecided:

No worries, if it is only the muffler I imagine it might look slightly different ( the Finish or something?)  yes made in Czechoslovakia...

As Dazz said the finish would look different, standard exhaust is just under 2" and there will be heat shield/caging welded to the exhaust around the fuel tank and right rear suspension link, the standard rear muffler is huge whereas after market ones will be much smaller.

Standard there should be 2 catalytic converters, one built into the headers and a second one at the base of the headers then a small muffler and the larger muffler/anti resonator at the rear, sometimes and after market system will remove one of the mufflers ( not always as noise maybe to loud ) depending on what sort of sound the owner is after.

Make sure that extractors haven't been installed as that will void the engine warranty.

Yeah ok thanks for the tips, I'll have a look.

Didn't end up getting to pick up my i30 today, the car yard is still waiting on the money transfer to go through. Have to wait till Monday now :(

Craig I like your i30 pic, you have a 3dr also? Looks good. Mine is the same colour

^ + 1

At the Hyundai Australia discontinued the 3door around June last year if I remember right.

Something about the 3dr that a really liked. The 1.6GDi petroleum is a great engine that revs out quite happily when it has to.

Another i30 3 door - Im going to have to sell mine - they are just becoming a dime a dozen! lol - Congrats on the purchase Steve. Looking forward to seeing what you do to her and hopefully us 3 doorers can swap tips etc... Don't forget that if you are looking for dress up bits the US version of the i30 is known as the Elantra GT (they don't get our model though) and there are plenty of bits from Korea and the UK. Engine wise - we share the same powerplant as the Accent and non turbo veloster so there is another avenue for upgrades. Good luck and keep motoring!

I find Imgur :link: Imgur (http://imgur.com/) the easiest and best to use, they don't remove your photos after a short time like Photobucket and no need to register either.

Just use the upload images tab at the top, then start and when completed you'll be given a forum link code on the right which you just copy/paste.

On a different note, I had a rather frustrating and rediculous experience today.

I was on my way to work and realized I needed fuel so I pulled into the petrol station and went to pull the lever to open the petrol tank door thing and could not for the life of me find it. Spent about 5 mins searching and then just drove away.

Had enough fuel to get me to work and then back home which is where I'd left the manual for the car.... Funny thing was, I actually did try just pushing on the door to see if it was one of those popout ones. I guess I must've been pushing in the wrong spot..!!

Anyway, now that I know how to get to the fuel tank, I'm going to go fill up. Hopefully I have enough fuel to the petrol station :0

I think you'll find that's more likely due to photos being attached directly,  not through a third party host.
Attachments can be lost if the service providers site goes down.

Nah, it was already wrapped when I got it. What do they call that stuff? It's like carbon fibre imitation wrap... I wonder how long it will last before it needs replacing..? One of the mirrors is already starting to peel off the tiniest bit.

Ps- wouldnt know how to write the codes dude, I imagine it'd be pretty complicated....

Edit* just had a look and the pics are now on the forum instead of the links.... One of the mods must've done it. Cheers to whoever it was  :victory:

The wrapping should just peel off easy enough, the shops that do it say it can be removed anytime.

You don't have to write code, the same place where you copied the links from that you pasted above...if you look down the link titles there will be one that says for forums, you just copy paste that code instead of the one you used :)
