Hello!
I live in Canada and recently bought an Elantra Touring here that is to the best of my knowledge is the same as the i30. I was wondering if that is true? Here is a link to the canadian web site,
http://www.hyundaicanada.com/Pages/showroom/showroom.aspx?model=Elantra%20Touring
if anyone knows that would be great I checked the specs and they are very very close but not exact it may be a case of rounding up here and there however, the wheel base is the same but for less than 10mm.

As far as I'm aware the i30 cw is the same car as yours.
The will be a few odd things different so it complies with the north american motor requirements.

Just had a quick glance through the specs.. A couple of things hit me straight away...
The demensions and specs should be identical...Just different options...
For example .. we don't get heated seats as an option in Aus (as far as I know) and we can't (for some stupid reason) get the wagon as a manual in anything other than the base model :'(.. I'm sure there are a couple of other minor differences like that too..

4 speakers bad, 6 speakers good

Their GL sport gets 6 speakers (like our SLX and SR)

WHAT no HEATED seats  how do you survive! I bought the next model from the base partially because of the heated seats (well and abs...) My last 3 cars have had heated seats! There is nothing quite as amazing as having a warm ahhh butt when the rest of you is in stage one hypothermia! My love is power kiting (kite buggy) and am often out in the cold (-20ºC or colder) and usually get wet in the ocean (6ºC) Heated seats are not an option! You NEED them!
-
Oh and I only have 4 speakers.... :'( Maybe that will change... or not the ones it has are much better than my last 2 cars! :D

Hi Again KD..
In most of Australia apart from Tassie (Tasmania) and parts of Victoria it doesn't often get cold enough to need the heated seats .. I just use Lambswool seat covers to compensate which also cushions the seats a bit.
My wife has only 4 speakers in her Nissan Tiida (you might know it as a Versa) but her stereo sounds pretty good ... I have 6 in my i30..
The stereo in the SLX is apparently better than the one in the Mazda CX7 according to my M8 who has one but not the best stock unit around..
If I had time I'd upgrade the 4 main speakers..

i got a qstn for KD.
I also live in Canada and was wondering if the base L model with the preferred package comes with "tilted" (not telescopic) steering. I went to the dealer and test-drove a GL model, b/c they didn't have L model for test-drive at the time. And I forgot to check if L model had a tilted steering. I noticed that the L and GL models in the two dealershops i've been to lacked the IPOD-dedicated usb jack, although they had aux jack that doesn't charge an ipod. Did your ET (I'm assuming urs is L with a preferred package) come with ipod usb jack?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club beomyoun  :D

beomyoun,
Yes I have the L pref. The base L is silly as it is missing the side curtain airbags and ABS the L saves insurance so the price difference disappears in time. I have the tilt not telescoping wheel in mine and No there is no Ipod jack I think that the sport is the only one that does have it. I have a mini usb jack that takes a mem stick. I personally have had my old car broken into for the ipod which I forgot to hide and once for the cable with no ipod attached or in the car at all. I like the stick it works the same way (skipping to a individual song is hard but I just use shuffle anyway) No batteries and no break ins and I get to use the ipod to walk around with. Hope that helps!
