Hey Steve..

Having two almost identical i30's One hatch and one wagon.. which do you prefer?

Are there any pluses or minuses other than the obvious extra room ...

the cw is auto and its not as toey as my manual,if you know what i mean.but  it still goes pretty well for a slightly heavier car than the hatch.i think its about 40kg heavier.and after seeing accims stone chips on rear panels we fitted mudflaps to the cw.

Is the cw slightly different around the leading edge of the rear wheel arch... I would have thought that part was the same..?

no the rear door an a cw seem to bend in at the bottom more, that causes the paint to be worn away like accims cw.you need a cw and a hatch side by side to notice the differance ,and its only a few mm but thats all you need to have debris wear your paint in that area.

Thanks for that Steve.. Another reason not to trade my Hatch on a wagon...

(1) That issue with the paint chipping..
(2) No Manual SLX
(3) Back seat won't fold flat..
(4) Slightly heavier

I like the cw, but (and I know I'm in danger of getting OT here) I'm cranky that you can't get a manual SLX OR Sportswagon, which is utterly ridiculous. You should be able to get the best gearbox in the best car. It's nuts. They also seem to have a surprisingly large fuel consumption deficit compared to the hatch, which I would probably put down to the roof racks.

More comfortable in the rear IMHO and the extra space will come in handy for some. From the people I speak to, many seem to think the cw is more attractive. I think they look better in the metal than in photos too.

As usual, they should offer a manual, diesel Sportswagon as I'm sure a lot of people would buy one, just like a lot of people would buy a diesel SR.

And they should offer the full leather that the Sportswagon has (very nice BTW) in the SR.

/end rant.

Back on topic, that's a nice pair of i30s. Shame they couldn't get consecutive rego numbers for you tho! :D

both ordered on same day, hatch took about 3 weeks to arrive but cw took 3 months because cruze and fog lights option had to go in as it was being built.[not standed on base model]
