I have recently purchased my 2011 i30 comfort. Love it.
I'm 27 in the UK and may call on the more experienced for little tips and tricks.
-
Welcome from NW

Welcome i30joe. :goodjob2:
-
Welcome Joe, I'm 58 in Tasmania, I sometimes feel older in other places!

As I'm new to this just curious what does it mean when people say FD?
-
The FD was the original model i30...The GD is the current model i30... :)
-
Ah right so kind of like mk1 mk2
-
Lots of minor differences but mainly different body style and rear suspension in Australia. GD has torsion bar suspension, except for the European imported CW model.
-
Ok well I believe I have a FD comfort 2011 plate in the UK I love this car my previous was a 2010 vauxhall meriva which wasn't a bad car I just didn't love it.
Plus the i30 has only 8000 miles and has been kept pristine

Ok well I believe I have a FD comfort ...
Those alloys belong to the Premium model :winker:
-
I thought that. When I ran a quote through a comparison place for insurance it said premium. But it doesn't have heated seats cruise control etc.
-
My FD Premium didn't have cruise, but did have heated seats.
Does it have a photochromic rear view mirror? If it has, there'll be a sensor & on/off switch at the base of it.
-
Yeah it does which I still honestly don't fully get is it to reduce glare?
-
I have rear parking sensors but not front are these a premium feature?
-
Sounds like you have a Premium edition. The photochromic RVM "dims" when it receives light from the sensor, from the cars behind - the switch disables that until the next time you start the car.
Be interesting to know if you have half-leather-front-facing seats.
-
Yeah its half leather. Also have the high specs lights I didn't realise until my cousin pointed it out I forget the name.
As I pointed out I'm learning as I go just washed the car :)

Great :D
Now you can change your forum profile from comfort to premium ;)
(You may want to inform your insurance company too)

Thanks for the photos. Nice looking car. The FD looks "mint" in Silver. :victory:
-
As I've cleaned it upon very close attention I've found what looks to be paint on the car. Not happy lol. Debating on whether to get the t-cut on it?
What do you guys think.

They are all raised but won't budge just using a fingernail.
-
I reckon some car polish might budge it and gentler on the clear coat than T-cut! :goodjob:
-
I'll have to give it a go found moss in between the rear window and panel and in between the windows and the seals gonna have to get in with a toothbrush or sumit and clean the bugger out. Was probably parked under a tree or sumit.

Yeah! That sumit is a bad place!
-
Little spots of rust has broke through the paint. Like maybe 2 or 3 spots gonna have to do some kinda touch up on it.

Gee, I might have to stop watching this thread or the wheels will fall off! :undecided:
-
To be honest they are tiny spots and I love the car but there are bits that need work lol.
There is a 1-2mm scratch on the rear bumper that's down to the plastic.
The driver seat has a maybe 10mm scuff in the leather. And then the bits I mentioned lol.

I should show you mine, you will have a heart attack at all the dings and scrapes I have on Hippo
But she looks good, welcome to the club! I am seeing quite a lot of minor differences between yours and mine, even though in SA we only get the normal GLS version and the uprated Executive model. The front bumper, blacked-out headlight surrounds, speedo with (I'm assuming) kph and mph readout, different front grille and gear lever to name a few.
Enjoy :goodjob2:
-
Problem being I've noticed more as I have gone along only had it a week
-
Mate it looks like a brand new car! I wouldnt worry about such tiny imperfections... 10mm scratch? Thats nothing

And I am one of the most particular people when it comes to car detailing

:wttc:
I wouldn't worry about those little imperfections. Remember that you bought a second hand car, not a brand new one. I would be complaining if it was brand new from the dealer.
-
The paintwork issues are pretty normal for a 4 year old car. Can't expect it to be scratch free. However, do pay attention to rust and moss, I'd check all drain holes for tree litter obstructions, eg the doors, hatch and front guards. Has the rust bubbled and broken the paint surface, OR IS IT ACTUALLY TREE RESIN, they can look very similar. Unfortunately, it sets really hard and I have no idea what you could remove it with. Hopefully someone else here will know.
Either way, a great car. :goodjob2:
-
I've had two cars previously and haven't really looked after them. The main reason I'm finding all the faults is to nip problems in the bud before getting any worse.
The car is in at the hyundai dealer to get the alloys checked in a couple of weeks as they are corroding slightly, see if they are eligible for refurbishment programme. Noticed the other day that the anti perforation book hasnt been filled in at all but it has full service history by hyundai

Hi i30joe
:wttc:
-
Re premium or comfort, there will be a sticker in the drivers door frame identifying the exact model. Open the door and it should be at the hinges.
